Sorry to hear that Reggie. Two years ago I put my beloved Husky down after having had him for 14 years. It was the second time I had had to do it and it wasn't any easier than the first. I thought I was handling it fairly well, but when I actually went in with my dog, I just lost it and broke down. The vet was extremely nice to me though and so were a few of the people that just happened to be in the waiting room at the time. People knew what was going on. They were really nice and understanding and were really trying to comfort me.
Like Ken said though, don't be afraid to cry and let it out. It's a hard situation with which to deal.
