Ha Ha, I'm dating myself too, but when I was a cashier (back in high school), we had to count the change back into the person's hand. Small family owned drug store, so that is probably the difference. Back then cash registers did not tell you the change, you had to count it out of the drawer. It drives me crazy too, when you give them the extra to round it up and they get all confused.
