Playing devil's advocate, you've argued day to day promotoes more continual interest however day to day can get overwhelming for people. By forgetting to make changes every day you're potentially losing the week and a couple of those weeks results in a "meh, I don't care anymore." attitude just as much as a "oh crap it's 2pm on Monday, I forgot to swap players for the week, I'm screwed."
The group of guys I always have a league with decided to go week to week this year as day to day for many of them last year was just too much. Depends on the group really.
As I said, either way works, just depends on what the collective want.
