Is Bruce Springsteen not allowed to have a mind of his own? Freedom of speech? Come on, the guy can say what he wants to say if he believes in his convitctions.

This is what p*sses me off about the US sometimes.. You're allowed to have an opinion, but if it's not what some people want to hear they try to force you to quit talking, and yes, that's what this is. Running ads slamming The Boss for having a mind of his own and voicing his political views, encouraging people to stop buying his records as a result of those political views is, in my opinion, against the whole idea of the United States as a free country. You're trying to hurt Springsteens source of income in order to shut him up. That's just wrong.

Everyone has got an opinion. Springsteen is no different than any other schmo in that regard.

However, its simply a fact of life that someone might disagree with you. In the case of Springsteen, someone disagreeing with him can also effect him economically by not buying his CD or not attending a concert.

People do have a right to organize to boycott a Springsteen concert just like left wing Liberals can boycott Republican cheerleading singer Toby Keith.

Its all fair. Sordid, but fair.

Cow, I agree with your comments. I find this US election to be the most fascinating election in my life-time. The US is so polarized. Lives may be in the balance depending which path the US takes in foreign affairs and security.

The Springsten story reminds me of the burning of Beatles records after John Lennon said the Beatles were "bigger than Jesus". Not quite "1984", but still an interesting phenonemon.
