These pre-game pump up interviews or whatever make the Americans sound so cocky.

Go Canada!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bonhomme has been pretty shaky to start....slow decision-making in the defensive zone and some scary pinches.

Oh, and the last bad pinch just led to an American chance. Great save by Szabadabbadoo.

Not a good start by Canada. Now defending a 5 on 3. The first goal of this game is going to be huge.

I'm not feeling good about this one.

That's such a weak call to make to put a team down 2 players in a gold medal game.

Tyler

They should allow contact in women's hockey. These girls are just dying to lay one another out.

That is one horrible call.

These refs in womens hockey remind me of a 14-year old ref who's never played hockey before - if someone falls down they call a penalty.

this i don't understand. not allowing hitting when the girls play our midget boys teams makes sense, but why not let them hit each other? i also don't get the mandatory full face shields, these women are all adults. they should have the right to choose to wear a half-shield if they want

Will be huge to come out and weather the storm early in the 2nd. If the Americans get a quick goal it's going to go right down to the wire. If Canada can maybe get a goal but more importantly keep the U.S. off the scoresheet they should be alright the rest of the way.

Tight period. Enough cannot be said about the penalty kill, it has been the difference of the entire game.

The problem with women's hockey, even Canada and the US, is that they have almost zero hockey sense. They get all these odd man rushes, and the puck carrier couldn't make a play using her teammates to save her life.

...and then you look at the Americans. They're the second best country the sport has to offer, and they can't even get a puck through to the net on a 5 on 3, let alone during 5 on 5 play.

I didn't say they haven't worked hard, I just think there has to be a better way to do this. The Canadian and American women train there ass's off for these events, and that's why they win them every time. It's also why there's only one competitive game during the whole tournament. Id prefer that that have to work for it like the Canadian Men will (hopefully) do

VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) — The IOC will investigate the behavior of Canadian women hockey players who celebrated their gold medal by swigging beer and champagne on the ice.Gilbert Felli, the IOC's executive director of the Olympic Games, says he was unaware of the incidents until informed by an Associated Press reporter.
He says drinking in public by athletes at an Olympic venue is "not what we want to see" and not a good image for sports values.

Felli says the IOC will talk to the international hockey federation and Canadian Olympic Committee and then "act accordingly."

The issue here, however insignificant, I think is being still in full uniform and still in the venue and doing it. If Montgomery got off his sled and grabbed some beer from the crowd, the IOC would likely have taken issue with that.

One of the issues is the legal drinking age in BC is 19 and Poulin (the 2 goal scorer) is only 18 and was seen drinking beer with the rest of the team celebrating.

I don't know what they can do really, but I say just let them celebrate. They earned it!

Since this is the Olympics the issue is probably the visible label on the can of beer.

Them gals could have been doing bong hits at center ice and it would be fine if the BC supplier had ponied up a few bucks for product placement.
