Hey CP,

I'm coordinating a seminar for business owners for a business consulting firm and I was going to see if anyone wanted to attend. I will be at this one to welcome and sign people in, and I was at the last one as well and it was very interesting. The seminars are totally free and obligation free (seriously), so I can't really offer a CP discount but my boss will donate $10 to CP for every registrant!!! Here are the details:

The seminar is called “Realizing Your Business’s Value” with Bill Sodomsky, President of PROCORP Financial Technologies. The topics that will be covered in these free ninety minute seminars are:

How to move the equity/capital out of your business and into your personal name tax free
Establishing a succession/transition plan that ensures your beneficiaries and not Canada Revenue inherits your estate
How to identify the mistakes most business owners will make while trying to sell their business, and how to avoid them
How are you going to move the equity/capital from your business into your personal name so you can enjoy it? Most business owner’s equity is tied up in the business. Simply paying a bonus, salary or declaring a dividend results in devastating tax consequences. You could lose 50% of your capital to Canada Revenue when taking the capital out of your business for personal use. By coming to our seminar, you can learn how to move your capital and avoid the crushing taxes.

If you were to pass away today, how would your business unfold? First, where would the capital come to pay for the massive tax bill? Second, who is going to take control of your business? Third, if your beneficiaries have a disagreement, how will it be solved? Most businesses have very rudimentary succession plans that will ultimately end up with the lawyers, accountants and Canada Revenue having a pay day. A proper succession plan is needed now! When you attend this seminar, Bill will show you how to establish one.

When selling your business; who are you going to sell it to? For how much? Do you sell shares, assets or is there a better way? Unfortunately, most business owners will give Revenue Canada half of the equity/capital in their business when it is sold. This doesn’t have to be the case! When you attend this seminar, you will have the opportunity to learn how to avoid this problem.

At PROCORP Financial Technologies, we are focused on one mandate: To assist and advise private business owners on preserving and realizing the value of their business. Those business owners who prepare now can ensure that the existing value and future value of their businesses is preserved, and most importantly, realized. These important questions and more will be answered when you attend this seminar.
