Well we came back from a 4-1 deficit in the 3rd to force OT but then give up a SHG in OT :( .

Dafoe played and got us a point against the Canes.

Gamestory coming later.

Game Story

Well same old story for the Tampa Bay Lightning not enough goals scored and too many goals given up as they fall to the Montreal Canadians 4-1. Tampa Bay had played well last game but as it has been all season long played poorly today unable to score on any of their six power plays.

GM Moon:

“This inconsistent play is really starting to become a problem. It is looking more and more likely as though we are going to miss the play-offs and soon some of these guys are going to be moved to make room for some younger guys who want to play here.”

Tampa Bay’s lone goal was scored by Boris Mironov and assisted by the recently acquired Ken Klee and team underachiever Pavel Bure. Tomas Kloucek returned to his goonish ways picking up 12 minutes in penalties.

Guess you cant expect too much when ya start Irbe!
Unfortunately, Khabby needed the rest.

On a good front, Iggy and Satan were Number 1 and 2 stars respectively.
and I guess a 4-3 loss with Irbe in net isnt too too bad given that we played the powerful Nashville Predators  ...Gawed, even saying that sounds wrong! "The powerful Nashville Predators!" ;)

Khabby is back in action next game..

Oliwa will be dressing!!

Hmmmm. Another tie against the Stars. 0-1-2 against them in 3 games this last week is not good. Enough of Kevin "Wanks" Weekes. Dude has been stoning us. Game story later.

The new look Wild debut next game. Hopefully they'll be better than this sorry lot of chumps.

OILERS GROUND FLYERS
Marian Hossa does his Milan Hejduk impression

Well the arrival of Martin Broduer to play his first game as an Oiler had the media and CPHL abuzz for this game, but it was Marian Hossa that stole the show. The young veteran Slovak tuned in his best effort of the season racking up 2 goals and 3 assists as the Oilers downed the Flyers 6-3. Brendan Shanahan also scored twice for the Oilers and Tom Poti, and Bates Battaglia added singles for the Oilers. Brian Leetch also put in a strong effort with 3 assists and a +2 performance. Martin Broduer didn't see too much action, but kept the Flyers at bay until the game was well in reach before surrendering two late goals to wreck his stats. The Oiler offence which had been struggling of late played with renewed confidence in front of their new tender and looked like the Oiler offence that scored at a blistering pace during an 11 game win streak. The Oilers will take a couple days off to recoup before heading off to St. Paul to play the revamped Wild.

The penguins welcomed there new GM into the mix with a 4-1 loss at the hands of the San Jose Sharks. When asked about his teams effort. New GM Jeff Young had this to say.
"The guys gave a strong effort but the chemistry is not with this team yet. "

When asked if there are going to be any changes Young responded

Of Course, what GM wants to see his team stay at teh basement of the league? I work dilengtly over the next few months to help bring tis franchise back to the level it once played at."

Young also stated during the interview that , there was not one man on the roster that is safe from trades and that he is openly persuing trades with all GM's and is will consider any offers coming his way.

Isles erupt for 7 goals in victory (http://www.livejournal.com/users/nyislanderscphl/)

VANCOUVER, B.C. - Eric Daze's 3 point effort won him the first star selection in the Islander's 7-1 victory.

After being blown out 6-1 by the Atlanta Thrashers less than 24 hours previously, the Islanders visited Vancouver and erupted for 7 goals downing the Canucks by a six goal margin in Thursday night's victory.

The lone goal-scorer for the Canucks was Alexei Morozov notching his 8th of the season in the third breaking Dwayne Roloson's shutout bid.

The game saw complete domination by the Islanders as they peppered the Vancouver netminders with 41 shots in total. Chris Osgood was pulled after letting in a pair of weak goals in the first from Daze, and reliever Jussi Markanen would eventually allow 5 more in the game.

"We needed a good performance after last night's loss," Francis said, who finished with 2 assists. "We know we're better than that, and we wanted to prove it to ourselves today."

The Islanders' powerplay continued to struggle going 1 for 7 on the night, while the Canucks were 0 for 8. The Islanders will now get a two day break where they'll prepare for their Sunday night game when they visit the Flames in Calgary.

Christmas comes late!

Passmore gives Ducks late gift in the form of a 4-3 win over Ottawa.

http://www.geocities.com/lesgardiens/passmore/nhlpa-passmore.jpg

Steve Passmore (OV 58) decided that today he is a better goalie than Marty Turco (OV 81). Steve faced 25 shots stopping 22 of them (10 of which were from Sakic, Bondra & Alfredsson).

Even though Mike York had 3 points neither he nor Passmore got a star. Passmore didn't seem to mind "Oh well, we got the win and Roberto is back to 100% for our next game. I'm a backup, I came in and did my job"

Next up for the Ducks is a trip to the black hole of the universe to play the Leafs.

FREDDY B WINS AGAIN

Fred Brathwaite who was a surprise start tonight vs the St Louis Blues turned aside all 36 shots he faced. With just one goal against him in his past three starts it will be very hard for the coach to throw Checkmanek back in the pipes.

Andrei Markov Playing in his second game since being acquired from the NYR for Patrick Marleau led the way with big brother Danny and Daymond Lankow. The Trio factored in on both Wing goals. Feeling a void on Defense and needing a defensman capable of playing on the powerplay, Markov has impressed with 3 points in 2 games while playing sound defence in his own end.

Next up is a game tomorrow night vs The Flyers and there new GM.

The Blue Note

Blues get Shutout

In there first game under returning Head Coach and GM Tim Clark the Blues stumbled out of the gate losing 2-0 to the Wings.

Tim had this to say…”Basically I think we ran into a hot goaltender. We fired 36 shots at Freddy but we just couldn’t seem to solve him.”
Tim also commented that it isn’t panic time for him yet and plans to give his team the weekend to continue to evaluate his team before making any drastic changes. I don’t want to make any rash decisions I will give these guys a few days to adjust to my new coaching style.

Mik Lidstrom lead the team with a game high 8 shots. The Blues also lost Patrick Stefan and Brian Pothier to injury last night.

Also last night the Blues AHL afilliate Icecats got blown out by the Grand Rapid Griffins.

Nest up The Hawks on Saturday Night.

The Hawks drug the Coyotes to OT and held on for the point. New guy Naslund scored the Hawks only goal of the game in the 3rd to tie the score at 1-1.

The Hawks Van Ryn gave the Yotes a huge opportunity to win the game when he was called for cross checking with 29 seconds left in OT. :o That is pretty much a penalty that will get him in the doghouse

Senators Stoned by Passmore.

The Gm of Ottawa was visably upset as his team lack of effort tonight.

Yah we outshot the Ducks but soft shots from the permemiter dont count as a true effort.

In an odd moment the Games 3 stars were all Ottawa Senators.  .

Sure 3 guys decided to show up that being Bonrda, Alfredsson and Sakic they do need help.

THe Senators woke up this morning to discover that they have a full day of Practice ahead of them.

Cudos to Passmore for stepping up and to the Ducks as a whole for taking the opportunity presented to them and making the most of it. A few Senators players should take note..
