The Stars have signed veteran goalie Brent Krahn, formerly of the Flames organization as their potential No. 3 goalie. Former college goalie Matt Climie will be in the organization, but has yet to play pro hockey, and Tobias Stephan is a young and unproven backup to Marty Turco, so Krahn will be a safety valve if necessary. He currently is rehabilitating an injury, but should be ready by December. He was 6-5-3 with a 2.49 GAA playing for Quad Cities (AHL) last season.

Its too bad for Krahn, is he hurt again or still?

Is it the knees?

Good god. He has no luck whatsoever.

Hopefully he can get on track and at least get a few NHL games in sometime soon.

Thanks Reg but good god, injured again. That's why I couldn't find him on the Dallas camp roster but than getting another contract under the circumstances shows he has some talent. Could be his last contract though.

First Round Picks always get some second chances. But since he is always injured time for plan b as previously posted. An interesting side note a friend told me that he brought an Escalade after he was drafted. Probably thought he was going to be a big time NHL Player.

Matt Climie has indeed played pro hockey before, and he gave up a 185 foot goal to Quad City Flames forward David Van Der Gulik (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NcC5A4gfcsY)

Hilarious, so that explains why they signed Krahn.

I got scored on like that once in Peewee and it was the most embarrassing thing ever, his confidence must have shot down to zero after that. Those goals stay with your forever!

I've always liked Brent Krahn, and am glad he is getting another chance. It's a shame he's had such knee problems.

As Grant said on the radio show, I can see him becoming a broadcaster when he retires. Or maybe a goalie coach for a junior team (the Hitmen)?

But there's a light at the end of the tunnel -- the Dallas Stars have a job waiting for him when he gets healthy, which could be as soon as next month.

"For sure that's incredibly big motivation," said Krahn. "(When he was shopping his services around over the summer) I thought there'd be some feelers that might lead to a contract later, but nothing as definite as 'We want you.' Dallas has shown tremendous patience and tremendous commitment. I didn't expect it, but I sure appreciate it. It's an opportunity I could not have dreamed of."

So far, the knee is co-operating.

"It's ahead of schedule," said Krahn, who is feeling well enough that he can skate and take some shots. "At one time, it looked like I might not be back until January, but now it's going to be a lot sooner than that. Maybe even the end of October.

"I don't want to jinx it, I don't want to put the cart before the horse, but the rehab has gone really well and I'm really excited."
