Rockford’s goaltenders may have struggled early because they were using sticks borrowed from the Flames because their sticks inexplicably did not make the trip.
Coach Mike Haviland couldn’t say if that was a factor, though.
That’s because he didn’t know about the mix-up.
“You just got someone in trouble,’’ a smiling Haviland told an inquiring reporter after the game.
