Anyone watching this? Wow, Milt is hauling in the goods:
-provicial Milt Stegall Day
-key to the city of Winnipeg
-street named after him
-Dodge Caravan
-artwork thing commemorating his record catch
-a bevy of cheerleaders
-a chair
Did I miss anything?

Aw crap. Missed it.
Did they say what street they renamed?
Yeah, when I was in Winnipeg in July Milt was the talk of the town. Good to see him getting recognized.

Given Winnipeg's awful street naming system, I'm sure the city was estatic to have another idea for a street name. They were already scraping the bottom of the barrel last time I was there.

Hey- let's not forget Fifth Ave!
Who cares that there's no 4th, 3rd, 2nd or 1st. :D

Adamar St. is my favourite. So named because there is a Ramada on that road.
The fact that they number routes that are spread across multiple streets gets me though. What a dumb system.
Oh, and on topic, Stegal deserves every bit of praise he is getting.

Wow... just wow.
And Snakeeye you just blew my mind.. I just realized Adanac street in Vancouver is Canada spelled backwards :bag:
Back on topic: good on Milt, and how fitting that he had all those clutch catches on the winning drive tonight!

Hey to a guy making a CFL salary who has a family....thats probably a huge bonus. As much as us men hate those things, women who cart kids around love them. If they weren't a useful vehichle, they wouldn't have sold so many.

That's a $30,000+ gift. The league minimum is still below $40,000, iirc.

I'm just pointing out the obvious with the Caravan. Obviously he'd still be happy about getting a gift, one that's as Snakeye said over $30,000, but on a night to commemorate a great player and great career in a PRO sports league, one would think the CFL could put that $30,000 towards something a little more 'special'. Sports car, SUV, you name it. Several of each can be had for similar money.

Yeah, but CFL players probably need things as opposed to want them. Stegal probably needs that Caravan a lot more than he needs a Crossfire sort of thing. I'm sure he can go trade it in on a SUV if he wants. But again he's a CFL player, he probably cringes when the price of gas goes up.
Remember this is a league where like 10 years ago the Grey Cup MVP was being given a cheque for 10 grand or 6 grand U.S at the time! I used to see that and think how the Americans would laugh at us poor cheap arse Canadians giving the MVP of the country's most watched television event a cheque for $6 grand. I bet we looked absolutely pathetic in their eyes.
