All These Thunderstorms...

...and tornado warnings. Sever thunderstorm watch for all of southern AB....looks like Medicine Hat is fixing to get the brunt of most of this crappy weather.

Whaddya think the chances of a tornado hitting the city are? I've yet to see one here, and I've lived in Calgary for almost 18 years...but this is the most severe storms/funnel cloud spotting I can recall in the area in recent memory. Some guy on Country 105 just called in saying he just watched a funnel cloud nearly touch down not far outside the city.

I could be wrong, but I doubt one summer with more rain and thunderstorms is a result of global warming. Global warming is a very long term process -I don't think a swing in short term weather patterns can really be blamed on it.

dont take the name to literally, it does not just mean we get warmer weatther, in reality it means we get more extremes of weather....hurricanes, tornadoes, massive snow storms, floods....those warmer temperatures you get from global warming creates a hell of a lot more turbulance in our climate.

Natural climate change does and is supposed to take a long time, but the global warming we are experiencing simply cannot happen as fast as it has only through natural forces. I don't know about you, but i see a weather in this area these days that is considerably different that in was even a decade ago. that kind of change simply does not happen in nature in a normal fashion.
