Yikes in Saskatoon none the less. Of all cities in Canada....Saskatoon would seem to rate low on my list for places for a football player to be attacked.

Hopefully Bell can make a recovery from this and be able to lead some semblance of a normal life.

I would almost think it would rank higher. Not trying to slag anybody from Saskatchewan- just that I would think that the one place that a non-star player in a non-star league might end up being recognized. Those Saskatchewanites know their football.

Hopefully he's going to be OK.

I'm thinking that this was probably not as random as the article makes it out to be.
Seriously of all of the people to randomly assault, who would pick a freakin' professional fullback (presumbaly a pretty big dude)?

That being said, I hope the dude is alright.

Doesn't Saskatoon have one of the higher crime rates in Canada?

EDIT: The highest, as a matter of fact.

Saskatoon (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saskatoon%2C_Saskatchewan) is the city with the highest violent crime rate of major cities overtaking its provincial counterpart Regina (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Regina%2C_Saskatchewan).

The first thing I thought when I read this was somebody in Saskatoon taking the Riders-Bombers rivalry just a little too far...

Doesn't sound like it to me.

Bell was struck twice in the head in what has been described as a random attack outside a Saskatoon restaurant. Police are searching for two suspects believed to have been involved with the attack.

I know what my suspicions are, but I'm going to leave 'em out until I'm proved right, or else I'm going to get jumped on for not being PC.

I'd say that most peoples chances would be pretty good when attacking with a bat to the head when he isn't looking.

Not that it matters much but this happened in the Sutherland area of S'toon which isn't the greatest to say the least.

Fair enought, but if I was planning to beat up some random dude, I'm fairly certain I'd pick the smallest guy possible, bat or no bat.

Looks like rubecubes suspicions were correct. Two middle class non aboriginal punks attacked Bell.

I love how facebook was the crux of the first third of the article. That's top notch journalism there.
