Faith, a 4-year-old Rottweiler, phoned 911 when Beasley fell out of her wheelchair and barked urgently into the receiver until a dispatcher sent help. Then the service dog unlocked the front door for the police officer.

The pooch is a trained service dog who came through in the clutch. Great story.

In all seriousness, the issue of older folks dying and nobody finding them for a while often results in the family pet getting desperate and finding food where it lies.

If you're older and you have a pet, its a good idea having the kids, friends, neighbours, etc checking up on you fairly frequently.
