Can you say "Outdoor Rink in Texas"?

:D

The US military has appealed to scientists to help develop a novel weapon - artificial black ice.

The plastic-like substance, the brainchild of the US Defence Advanced Research Projects Agency (Darpa), would be used to force slip-ups from enemies.

The "polymer ice" would be designed for hot, arid environments, "as found in Iraq and Afghanistan", it said.

Quick, somebody email the NHL!

I take it the substance they are going to use will be similar to the substance used to make the "ice" on the "hockey treadmill" one of which being in the Lindsay Park complex.

If so....maybe its the reverse...the military is taking technology that the Ice Hockey industry has already created!

Good point maybe the Canadian Forces should use banana peels (if they can afford it)

Anyway, I forwarded the article to a member of the hockey media. They said they would take it to the GM's meetings in Florida and might mention it if the subject of bad ice came up.

Who knows. Maybe we will need to come up with white pucks someday for markets in the southern US.
