Not sure of the damage, but the roof has collapsed down at BC place...wonder what this means for the lions and also the olympics (opening ceremonies and the gold medal hockey final).....

also it was snowing here today...but not that much to cause this

Is there a link for this? Could it be another shoddy job of structural engineering on the West Coast. I remember years ago they didn't build the roof right on a grocery store down there and it collapsed coining the phrase Cave in Foods as opposed to Save On.

I'm just watching CBC Newsworld right now, apparently somehow the fiberglass layer developed a hole and it expanded, collapsing the dome... the pictures they are showing don't really tell anything, just a big white blob.

The roof at B.C. Place stadium - home of the B.C. Lions of the Canadian Football League - collapsed shortly after noon during a storm that brought wind and heavy, wet snow to the area.

There were no report on injuries after the inflated fabric roof fell into the empty stadium.

Chances are we won't have snow.

Whistler will have MORE than enough snow.

Hence Vancouver/Whistler

Well basically a tear in the roof caused the building to loose air pressure. The roof didn't cave in so much as it deflated. No doubt they could have evacuated the place had their been people in it. They've certainly had some crazy weather out there this year though. Probably be another 50 years till they see a series of storms like this. It won't be cheap to remedy this, but it's not like a chunk of concrete falling like what happened in the big O.

No snow, at Whistler, in February?

Thats a risk regardless of where the winter olympics are held, although highly unlikely, but using it to "predict" that the Olympics will suck is just lame.

They should leave it and rename it Saddledome Stadium.

In that case, I don't want the seats seen in this picture.
