it is comforting to remember Joe Delaney.

I had forgotten about this story until I stumbled across it a couple days ago.

A true hero.

ouch, never heard of him before. Thanks for sharing, Tranny.

It sucks that the negative usually gets press before the positive. Just using some of our hockey players as an example. Someone posted pics of all the Flames at one of our hospitals last year. Iginla, Kipper, Reinprecht, Ference, a ton of others. Making the kids smile. Saku Koivu donating tons of money to the hospitals in Montreal, and also spending time in those hospitals, especially in the kid's cancer wards. Patrick Roy, writing a $500,000 cheque in the name of his foundation for Montreal's children's hospital the day he was traded to Colorado.

I'm sure the list is even larger for the better paid athletes in the NFL, NBA and MLB. Most of it is done anonymously by players or just isn't interestign enough for the press to bother with.

The Ace Bailey story you (Habernac) posted a few months back really struck me as well. I wish that the article was still available but it now appears to be subscriber only. (link to original thread (http://forum.calgarypuck.com/showthread.php?t=29695&highlight=ace+bailey))

Tranny, check the last paragraph in this article. James Duthie has a high opinion of that story by Reilly as well.
