So whats the deal with this new basketball team. How many games do they play and what association are they a part of.

I am not really that excited to see them coming to Calgary but now that we have a team and the fact that the NHL is in an ongoing lockout this league may be fun to watch.

I just found the american basketball website, Take a look if you are at all interested.

There are a lot of teams in the league, shouldnt be that bad.

They will be playing in the Stampede Corral. About 18 home games I think.

I like to watch BBall live. I supported the 88's. Yet I just don't like the name. Why do they have to be called the drillers? Two soccer teams in Edmonton had that name.

I dunno, better to avoid a creative name, otherwise we might have ended up lumped in with the Gwinnett Gwizzlies, the St. Louis Rots and Motown Jammers...

I'll probably go only if either Gwinnett (very unlikely) or St. Louis (unlikely) come to Calgary. A few of my friends just want to go to laugh at the team names.

I seems that the members of the forum posted earlier seem to really like the name. Sound like they are from some where in the states and have followed the ABA for some time. Even though it is the same name as some old teams up north I don't think it is that bad. I don't like the logo at all though. It kind of looks cheep and not a very good graphic in the moder age of design. One thing I found interesting when listening to the Fan 960 is one of the rules. When the ball is stold by a player in their defensive zone the board on the other side lights up. When the board lights are on a regular 2 point shot becomes a three point shot and a three pointer becomes a four pointer. Kind of interesting.

Actually, wouldnt it be funny if Calgary could make the "Drillers" name a success where Edmonton has repeatedly failed? :)

I think it should be fun to have another sport added to Calgary. I hope it works well and the people of Calgary support it.

THe name isnt that bad. It suits the city and I guess thats all that matters.

Well I am not sure about the rest of the people here but I will probably be in the stands come Nov 16.

Well, the original "Oilers" in Alberta was the Okotoks Oilers, so I guess it works both ways. :D

This league kind of scares me. Right now they have 30 teams and they want to expand another 20 teams in 2 years, that is way too much, how do you even do this?
