Researchers in Britain say adulthood used to start at 18 but now most males don't show the conventional signs of maturity until they're closer to 30.

Research in Britain and America found that less than a third of 30-year-olds pass three tests of adulthood — having completed their schooling, left home and become financially independent. If a fourth test — marriage and parenthood — is added, the figure falls further.

I'm in my 40's and sometimes wonder when I'll grow up. Age is often a "mental" thing.

I saw that as well. It makes sense still some males mature faster than others. I know males in their 40's that have the maturity of a 15 year old

Then again, I've ben independant since I was around 20, but haven't finished my education, so does this mean i'm not an adult?
What about people who work, then decide to go back to school for a new career?
saying that though, I certainly think more people are staying home longer now than before.
