Hi guys, I created a fan club for Milan Lucic but it's Super Secret so don't tell anyone, ok?

https://forum.calgarypuck.com/group.php?groupid=52

I want everybody to join but we need to keep it on the down-low. It's a Secret. We can keep on going there.

Hell yeah.

Also, #### James Neal.

The youthful enthusiasm is refreshing. Keep it up.

I’m afraid I’ve been beat down too many times by this club to share it.

Looch did have a great game vs Vegas.

Especially if he doesn't hit 20 goals.

I think that was a hint of playoff Lucic. The refs were laying off the whistles in that game and he is certainly a much better player then Reeves. It’s almost like he wanted to show he was 2 million better! It’s clear that Tre won that deal with Holland.

He's been okay making some space for his team. Not a huge fan though, Hathaway was better for a grinder IMO.

I have a hard time asking someone who fights as often as he does to fight any more then he feels comfortable doing. 74 NHL fights in a life time is enough to cause permanent damage.

When the Oilers goon is beating up our best player and Lucic is completely invisible over two games, that is not doing his job.

I don’t think he has been hit that much, he usually dominates fights and avoided fights with the specialist goons for the most part. Lucic is a smart man and has always used his strength to gain extra space for him and his line mates.

Huh? By far his fights include more goons than otherwise. Almost exclusively. They are listed on hockeyfights.com if you’re interested.

I just checked, the only goon he has fought recently was Peluso, a fight in which he was not hit and devastated Peluso. I see a lot of Prout and Engeland though, certainly not goons but heavyweights. It still stands. I don’t think he has been hit a lot. He is just a very strong man who protects himself well and overwhelms opponents.

I don’t remember Todd Bertuzzi ever really getting hurt either.

Though not worth his salary he works hard, makes hits and is a presence. He was the best Flame last night. He will be invaluable in playoffs as we need the nuclear deterrent, though if we meet the Oilers he is going to have to get over not hitting his buddies. Worth 10X that piece of -23 garbage Neal.

I bought his jersey the first pre-season rookie game of the year at the Dome. Also own a Lucic Bruins jersey. It has been infinitely less embarrassing to wear than the Neal jersey I unfortunately bought last year. I’ve defended him all season, even when he went 20-something games without scoring a goal to start the season. He also scored a goal on my birthday this year.

Milan Lucic officially has more goals and points as a Calgary Flame than James Neal.

I feel it is my duty and an honour to join this secret society.

Lucic does everything fairly well except skate fast and finish scoring chances. He’s a good passer, works Howard, forechecks, defends better than most, and doesn’t make dumb decisions with the puck. Simply put, he’s not a liability on the ice like Neal.

If his scoring touch hadn’t disappeared, he’d be worth his pay check. As it is, he’s better than Neal.

He may not skate above average but to me he definitely isn’t below average. He has caught me by surprise on a few plays.

While I am not ready to join the fan club, he is a big improvement over the offensive Black Hole that is James Neal. Lucic - Ryan- Dube have been an effective line most nights.

I liked Lucic since his days as a Bruin and wished that the Flames could get him. The wish did come true however late it is. People say he's slow (as an excuse to say he's no good), but he's pretty fast on the ice. When he checks, it's frickin awesome - like a speeding freight train crushing a car! I'm just glad he didn't call it quits back in November. He is what the Flames needed since the rebuild started back in 2012! Big guys with heart - that's what the Flames need more of.

I joined. And then EV comes up with this salient point. I will attend club meetings, but i'm using negative body language like folded arms until he bashes an oiler.

It's a shame he's not better at deflections considering his net front presence. He's quite frankly quite poor at it. If he had a drop of Holmström blood in him he could be scoring >20 goals per year until he's forty based on size alone.

Once he gets going straight ahead he’s OK. He just doesn't have acceleration or lateral movement, which can be a big deal. It’s not bad for catching up to the play or for throwing a forecheck.

Just an observation, Johnny one of the highest paid members on the team, did not contribute to the funds. But guys like Dube, Mangi, Benett & Janko did. Good on those boys!

I don’t think we should judge any player who didn’t contribute. It’s 100% not their responsibility.

It would be unfair to cast aspersions on anyone not knowing the extent of their charitable contributions. There's more than one worthy cause, unfortunately.

I feel bad for making fun of Looch when he was an Oiler. I know it's all in good fun as rivals, but he got #### all over by Flames fans for his contract and play with quite a few personal insults . Now that he's a Flame I couldn't have asked for a better team ambassador then him. Seems like a really good family man and teammate. The guys all love him and he really does bring something the team lacks. Contract aside, I'm very happy he's a Flame now.

I will gladly continue to take him over Neal any day for the foreseeable future.

That is true. But it still doesn't change the fact that Gaudreau did not contribute anything as of yet. Its not their responsibility but it still stands out to me as an observation.

We have no idea what any single player has done charity wise.

Just because we haven't seen or heard anything, does not mean it didn't or isn't happening.

Matt Reeeeead

The new charity shaming thing is really annoying.

There's no obligation by anyone, but the shaming and D### measuring? Its not right, and only creates a culture of forcing fake donations/support by donating for the wrong reason, and encouraging public displays of support (rather than the choice to make private/anonymous contributions). I have no time for it.

We all have every right to gravitate towards, and cheer on those we identify closest with. The more charitable and community oriented people, such as Backs and Giordano, certainly makes it easier to cheer for them. But lets be honest, that's their personal choice, and what seperates them from the rest, and makes them unique.

Just wanted to add that there are players who request a level of anonymity with charitable endeavours. Miikka Kiprusoff (not surprisingly) was an example of this, but was more involved than he seemed with helping others.
