Couple things. One, they’d just come on the ice. Second, they have to do it some time. You can’t shelter a top line. And the puck was theirs off the draw. The D failed to clear and then the fire ensued.

Both as advertised so far. Gustaffson not afraid to try to get the puck on the net, hasn't looked as bad in his own zone as people have said but that could be because Stone is sticking out as the weak spot in that department tonight. Faster than I thought he would be. Bit of a riverboat gambler with some aggressive pinches, I could see that leading to a lot of odd man rushes the other way.

The icing is really bad now, as a kid it was never like this. Clearly the refs have direction that has changed over the years. If a puck was intended to clear the zone (not a pass attempt) and could have been touched by the other team or was near the other team (for example, bounced over their stick), it is not icing.

I remember a while back hearing that icing is way more frequently called compared to years ago.

I was yelled at before for criticizing the stupid drop pass. Someone told me every team does it. It's still stupid.The problem isn't the drop pass itself, it was the fact that the Flames used it on every single PP entry without trying anything else... So it was very easy to predict.

They're better lately with different entry types, but the drop pass is still used about 60% of the time, with the carry in as their favorite second option.

This isn't a team built for dump and chase, but it's different on the PP is our speedy forwards can retrieve the puck and outnumber the defenders who won't be looking for a quick transition game while they're on PK.
