There were two surprises on the early OOT games. The Devils get a late power play goal, Severson scored with two minutes left in regulation time as New Jersey wins 3-2.

The Sabres were up 3-0 after twenty minutes and went on to beat the Penguins 5-2! Eichel scored two power play goals.

The Flyers were also up 3-0 in the second period. The Jets tried to come back by scoring two goals, but, could not do it. That is good news as the Flyers won 4-2. Laughton with a pair of goals.

I posted it a couple days ago, but the player most likely to next hit the 600-goal mark is Sidney Crosby, and he is still 142 goals short. He is 32-years old. The only other player who is remotely close is Patrick Marleau, but he won't get there before retiring.

700 goals? It is going to be years before we see another one score 600. In other words, there is a better chance that Ovechkin scores his 800th before anyone else gets to 600.

I've been saying this about Dubas since he caved on Nylander. He's crippled this team for the next 3 - 5 years. Every UFA or RFA contract he has signed has been a huge win for the players. Not a single player has had to give up a single thing. They all got the term they wanted, they all got the dollars they wanted. All while his cup winning, gold medal winning coach was telling him that it wasn't going to win.

Now they've fired the coach, brought Dubas' own guy in and he's saying the exact same ####ing thing. He's JFj if JFj had come in after the previous GM had stocked the cupboards with young talent. He's out of his depth and it's showing.

Agree that they need the cap space so there is clearly an allocation issue. I've always liked Tavares and I know I posted here that the Flames should have offered McDavid money to get him when he was UFA. I wonder how that would have turned out. At least there would have been no Neal/Lucic, lol.
