I am surprise there isn't a thread for the Super Bowl game between Carolina Panthers and Denver Broncos tomorrow. Who do you think will win?
I am leaning towards Cam Newton and the Panthers. Normally I only watch a few regular season games but I tried to watch the playoffs as much as I can. I've been very impressed the way Cam Newton plays and definitely they will win the game.

Broncos have been treated as under dogs all year. Hope Manning can put together the game of his career and go out with a second ring.

Go Broncos! Hope our D puts Cam on his face.

Go Broncos!

It's not going to be an easy one, but I expect a big game from the defense (again.) Frustrate Cam right from the start

Broncos have that D. I think they can shut them down. I'm curious to know what Clay Sens prediction is on this game.

Go Panthers. Donkeys can suck themselves.

I think the key is how Carolinas offensive line does against the Denver front 7. If Carolina can run the ball and Ware and Miller can't terrorize Newton the way they did with Brady in the AFC Championship than the Panthers should win easily.

If Carolina can't run the ball than Denver wins. If there is justice in the World Peyton retires with as many Superbowl rings as Eli has.

It'll come down to the Broncos D doing what they've done pretty much all season. Neutralizing the opposing team's quarterback. Going to be their toughest challenge yet, but this front 7 has performed like all-stars all season long. They should be up for it.

Expect it to be a close game. As long as Broncos offense doesn't turn ball over (I'm looking at you Hillman), I'm confident in them winning and letting Manning head into the sunset with a second ring.

Denver has to make it a low scoring Kubiak slugfest. Keep it close, one TD on offence, one by the D or special teams, and about 3 field goals. Hopefully Denver's secondary can work over the Panthers' pedestrian wideouts and let the front seven leave a spy or two on Cam.

I think Manning has accepted his role as a game manager but if he tries to go all "vintage Manning" then Denver's screwed. He better not start chucking those deep ducks every drive and audibling into passes constantly.

Panthers need to let Cam be Cam. Their defence is almost as good as Denver's but hopefully Norman is wasted being manned up on useless DT. That would be perfect, leaves the Broncos true #1 WR Sanders to work on easier targets. If Denver can limit turnovers I think they win a close game, if they turn the ball over Carolina will probably win by double digits.

As a Raiders fan, I don't like the divisional rival Broncos, but kinda hope Manning wins his swan song and retires a champ.

I haven't had this much disinterest in the SB since the days of Montana and Young and Aikman (and anyone playing the Broncos) were ripping the opposition to shreds and the outcome was decided long before the halftime show was setting up.

That being said I'm hoping the Broncos defense does its thing and keeps this one close if not win it all and Peyton can ride off into the sunset the same way Elway did. I suspect this wont be the case though and the Panthers win easily. Love to be wrong however.

It's oversimplifying things to say it all comes down to Cam, but it all comes down to Cam. If he wants to be the hero and make all the plays, the Broncos will win and probably easily. If he wants to play within the game and take what is given, the Panthers will probably win. Given Cam's nature and how badly he wants to be an "icon", I expect he makes a lot of mistakes tonight trying to make plays happen so he can be the hero. I think he has at least 3 turnovers. And I think Noodle Arm throws it less than 25 times.

Carolina hasn't faced a D as good as the Denver, but Denver hasn't faced a running game like Carolina.

The match up I am most looking forward to is Emmanuel Sanders vs whoever he is lined up against. If he can have success working the slot Denver will move the ball

Officially I'm predicting Carolina, but I'd love to be wrong.

Everyone in love with Cam and his "fun" antics and clothing style these days it seems. I'd love to see things unravel at the start so people can remember he's arguably the sulkiest sideline (non-WR; the position king of sulk) star in the game when it's been an off day.

All hunched over on the bench, towel over his head, not talking to teammates...I miss that Cam. They've won so much this year that I think people forget that side of him. If anyone has the ability to bring that Cam out this year, it's the Broncos D.

OzSome

Denver's defense shuts down the Patriots in their divisional finals while Cam Newton and the Panthers offense was pretty good especially in the first half but sort of slows down in the 2nd half. Broncos will win if their defense shuts down Cam Newton and offense then this is going to be an interesting game; otherwise this game is going to be a blowout. I am really looking forward watching this game.

Sylvanfan
02-07-2016, 01:12 PM
The closest thing the Broncos saw to Newton this year probably was Alex Smith. The Chiefs offence actually moved the ball quite well but had a lot of turn overs in the first game. In the second game they also moved the ball pretty effectively and didn't turn it over. Carolina has a superior O line, a TE who's at least equal to or better than Kelce, a better QB, better RB's and receivers who are similar to KC.

But one thing is that the Broncos D doesn't seem to get rattled so I don't see Carolina being able to build up that huge early lead like they have in a lot of their recent games.

Really hoping for Manning to pull one last one out and get a second ring which he deserves given his career. The best Qb we'll see for a while, longevity wise and as the most intelligent Qb in the league, by far. Brady's good, but in large thanks to the genius of Belichek. Manning's done it on his own (look at Indy when he got hurt) and even as the physical side has let him down.

Seems tough, but if Denver can keep Carolina at bay and within two scores or less at half, I think they have a great shot. If anyone's patient, its Manning.

Who's not patient is Newton. His whole career really, in the games I've seen him play, but even still this playoffs; he started coming unravelled halfway through the third quarter when Seattle was still 3 scores down 3 weeks ago, and he didn't play much better the rest of the way and barely held on. Once the smile is gone and the sulk starts, and he's then half the QB he could be.

Arizona the week after dug a hole, but shot themselves in the foot after it looked they were coming back, until Peterson fumbled and then Palmer throws a terrible INT which would've brought the game back to life before half.

So, if Denver can limit the big plays against early, ideally get a turnover, but in general grind it out, not get too far behind, and wait for Carolina to slip up, I think they have a great chance. Cam throws an INT early, and they're maybe in trouble early.

Out of nowhere I think Vernon Davis will have a good game. And speaking of ex 49'ers, last week they saw the good Ted Ginn, this week, Panther fans better hope the other side of Ted Ginn; the one that drops punts and gives up on routes leading to INT's, doesn't pop up today.

Interesting Denver had the choice and decided to go on offense first. I woud of thought they would play to their strength and try and pin the Panthers deep to play the field position game or try and jump on them early with a turnover.

Officiating has not been the deciding factor in this game at all.

Turnovers and a couple key ST plays are the difference along with a stifling defense on both sides.

Awesome defense actually...love it.

It was a combination of the Raiders center going awol the day before the game and Gruden pretty well knowing the entire playbook as Callahan pretty well ran John's playbook without adding any wrinkles. The Broncos had 11 first downs, and really won pretty easily. I still think The Giants performance is unbeatable as best ever in a Super Bowl because they did it against the best offense ever. I'd put this at #3 behind the Seahawks in Super Bowl XLVIII too, also because they dominated a historic offense. What was exposed tonight was what everyone thought Carolina's problem would be all year, that they had no weapons outside Greg Olsen. Getting Benjamin back next year helps a lot, but they still need more.

Also be interesting to see how much Cam gets for not diving on that fumble. I get he was hurt but recovering that was the game. Gotta at least try.

He's still got some growing up to do. When things are good he's smiling Cam. When not, this year and previous years, hes sulky Cam. Seattle played them a lot and didn't take much to get him rattled. Here is he as Seattle's coming back a few weeks ago. No longer the same guy that was smiling when up 31 points but they were still up 17, but things were not going his way.

Unless you love Defense Defense Defense that was one the worst Superbowls i have ever seen. The offensive play calling was so bland. The only big play came off of a misread coverage on special teams. Nothing much to be excited about. No wow moments, just meh.
All i can hope is that the NFL's pride and joy drip Manning just retires.

Its easy to lead when your winning. Its the real leaders that come to the forefront when things aren't going well.

He's got a lot of growing to do.

Its great that he won the MVP award and put up tons of yards.

But character is either validated or exposed during the game.

Wow, what a sore loser! Also, sure go ahead and blame yourself for the turnovers and errant passes but don't throw your O line and receivers under the bus.

wow i didnt see that press conference before. i am not a manning fan but if he lost, he would have handled it with class, as would guys like Brady, Rodgers, Wilson etc... he made a lot of fans this year but might have lost that many more after that.. pathetic

In contrast, Ron Rivera is being very frank and gracious.

^^The old saying You have to learn how to lose before you learn how to win sure applies to Newton here. Look at Manning and Wilson in their recent losses, they lost with class and were standup guys. If Newton is going to celebrate as he does after wins he should face the music after a loss.

Hot. Damn. That defence carried this team kicking and screaming to a Superbowl title. The last two games may be two of the best ever defensive postseason performances I've seen. Absolutely stunning how good they were. Congratulations Von on earning all of the money you'll get with your next contract, hopefully Denver can get rid of utterly useless DT and give you his money and more.

Cam sulking? Don't care. Crying about officials? Don't care. Superbowl Champion Denver Broncos, kickass.

Its easy to lead when your winning. Its the real leaders that come to the forefront when things aren't going well.

He's got a lot of growing to do.

Its great that he won the MVP award and put up tons of yards.

But character is either validated or exposed during the game.

I think his character was exposed and is something he needs to work on.

And I'm obviously talking onfield and not off field.

Yeah. He's gotta be better than he was in that conference, but he's pissed. He was shot kicked all night long.

That Denver defense is not only stellar, but the scheme that they employed gave Carolina very few options.

Miller was the only choice for MVP really, he not only deserved it he won the game for Denver. Nobody was close on either team to having as big of a game as Miller.
Newton certainly did not play like a MVP in the most important game of his career.
It is funny i think of another destined HOF player...C.Woodson just walks away with class no farewell tour. Leaves as a probowler with respect amongst his teammates and opposition.
Manning i fully expect will milk every bit of attention and gratuities he can. Completely different characters.

lol

Of course, he's a little brother. Literally all he had was the two rings to lord over Peyton and now he has nothing.
