On Monday, Sept. 28, the NHL announced the event will be headlined by the neo-soul pop group Fitz & The Tantrums, and will feature performances by Reuben and the Dark, Jocelyn Alice and the Calgary DJ duo Boogie Hill Faders.

Fitz & The Tantrums will take the stage at 7:20 p.m.

“The atmosphere at this event leading up to puck drop is incredible — you can feel the energy in the air,” said Brian Jennings, chief marketing officer for the NHL.

“Fans are excited for a new season to launch and so are we.”

Local TV personalities Dave Kelly and Jill Belland will host the festivities, which get underway at 3 p.m., rain, snow or shine.

I'll be there! Excited to kick the season off!

I wasn't planning on going down, but damn they actually got a decent and current band to show up.

Impressive!

Yeah, I'm going to definitely check this out. Game is 8, maybe catch 20 minutes of Fitz and then walk over.

And there will be plenty to see and do at the 300,000 sq.-ft. festival, which will see live music, giveaways and special appearances by NHL alumnists before the Flames and Canucks renew their rivalry in a rematch of last year’s first-round playoff series.

If anyone from CP is attending this event, look out for the guys in red pants.

Weather looks good too!

Boogie Hill Faded must have unspeakable pictures of Ken King, I can't believe how they keep getting work from the Flames. Worst part of having Roughneck tickets.

Weather looks to be pretty good tomorrow, wonder how the big screen turns out. Could be a great test if successful to do it in the playoffs again.
