My biggest video yet, but how could it not be given the number of amazing comebacks we had? So much fun!

So I decided to take some liberties with what I considered part of the comeback in each game. For example Dec 4th vs Colorado, we were down 2-1 to start the 3rd but tie it quickly before Tanguay scored his nice goal to take the lead again. For that one I have it as "Down 3-2 late in the 3rd".

Likewise in the Dec 22nd OT win in LA I have it as "Down 3-0 in the 2nd" so that all of Gaudreau's hattrick goals are included. Same with starting down 2-0 vs Edmonton on NYE.

Finally I included the Jan 19 OT win in LA even though we entered the 3rd tied at 0-0 because Monahan still tied it late before Wideman wins it.

My planned order for the next videos: Brodie, Bouma, Backlund, etc.

Videos done so far this summer:
- Ferland vs Vancouver (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FMrNRlLne8Y)
- Gaudreau Part 1 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BOGppehWtWc)
- Gaudreau Part 2 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tPyYvqs-S4I)
- Giordano (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PIwMQJr6Lj8)
- Hudler (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YQ2qkMownwc)
- Monahan (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ijCUwkZPhw0)

That was a lot of huge, timely goals, by a lot of different players. I'd almost forgotten a few of those. Easy to do when there were so many.

Instead of watching games I think this year I'll give my nerves a rest and just wait for AC's video package.

Maybe we can get him on Netflix.

Anyone still griping about Bouma's new contract needs to watch this!

Clutch goal after clutch goal. I'm also surprised at seeing Granlund so much at the beginning of the season- doing a lot of good things.

He's a guy I think has lost a spot to start the year- but he can be effective.

Thanks again to AC for the fantastic video- can't wait for the season to start!

I'm not old enough to recall 1989.

The 2004 playoffs were a hell of a run.

But from start to finish 2014/2015 was easily the most entertaining, most exciting, and most enjoyable Flames season of my lifetime.

Agreed. I was at game 6 to beat out DET in 04 and it was amazing, but I was 14. Now being old enough to follow the team and the game as I do, this season was some of the best hockey I've ever seen.

Just so many factors that made the past season such a great season of hockey. I kind of get sad just thinking that I am not sure any season can live up to the excitement of the last 12 months.

A group with no expectations that was very likeable, worked so hard, and that you could tell really liked each other (including the coaching staff which is remarkable).

So many late game comebacks.

The team playing an exciting, offensive, style of hockey (which hurts the 04 season in retrospect).

And to top it off so many different contributors over the course of the season. You watch that video and the following players all made big plays:

Hudler
Gaudreau
Monahan
Bouma
Backlund
Jones
Colborne
Stajan
Ferland
Granlund
Jooris
Bennett
Gio
Brodie
Wideman
Russell
Schlemko

The goalies all having strong stretches of play, and stepping up in relief of the other goalie after one was yanked to shut the door.

It always seemed like a different guy was coming up big late in a game, and that no matter who stepped into the lineup they were ready to contribute.

I had the privilege of being in person at both Van game 6 and Anaheim game 3. I will remember both for the rest of my life, simply amazing. Was also at the NJ comeback, Oilers NYE, clincher vs. the Kings, and the first playoff game at the dome in 6 years (in which Bennett scored his first NHL goal)...and more I can't even remember. Just a magical season, I'll be telling my kids about it one day I'm sure.

I won't forget this season for a long time. I had the luck and privilege to attend 3 of these come back games. April 9 vs LA and Vanc Game 6 + Anaheim Game 3.

Game 6 was so good...

I still remember some guy in the nose bleeds for Game 6 walking around going, "I wouldn't be as good if it were easy!" and me merely wishing for an entertaining game.

I remember a Vancouver fan all smug when we went down 3 to nuts. No one chirped him or anything. When we came back, we still didn't chirp him and instead enjoyed his colorful verbal tirade about his own team.

3rd period, I was so happy I started throwing popcorn everywhere and got a warning from an usher as a result. I don't recall which one.

Yup, and I love when the shot cuts to the bench, everyone is jumping around and Colborne is just hunched over completely gassed. That's pretty much the definition of leaving it all on the ice.

AC, the only thing that would be awesome on this video, and you may already know about the feature and it may be difficult/annoying to implement and not worth the trouble.

I watch a lot of full concerts on youtube and there's this feature where the uploader lists all the songs as clickable links in the info section of the video. So if you're watching a concert you'll see;

1: Enter Sandman 0:00
2: Fade to black 4:47
3: One 8:02

With the time stamp being a blue, clickable link that moves the youtube video directly to that timestamp.

Of all your videos if there was one to do that for it would be this one. It would be pretty convenient to go through a list and see;

5: Boston comeback on such and such date 15:35

and then just click the time and go straight to it. Again, it may be very annoying/time consuming, so I'm not sure if it's worth, but definitely something to consider.

God damn.

So, I was thinking about this after AC posted the Gaudreau videos: the third goal of his hat-trick in the LA comeback glances off of Doughty's skate on a backhand "pass" (12:26 of the above video). Hrudey calling the replay says that Gaudreau is "looking for his team-mate, but after having watched the play now over and over dozens of times, I am quite convinced that this was an intended bank-shot:

· There is no Flames player anywhere in the vicinity of where Gaudreau places the puck. Hurdler is closest, and Monahan is a little past him on the left side, but Hudler is still several steps behind, and nowhere near where the puck is going.
· Follow Gaudreau's own line of sight. When he shovels the puck back, he is looking at Doughty's skates as it glances off of them.

He is such a special talent, I can't help but conclude that this was just another case of "Johnny doing Johnny things." Given that he never misplaces his line mates nor the puck; given how the play developed and his movement through it, this was all him.

Love the video AC. A few thoughts watching after watching all that again.

1) Hiller was huge at times last year. Lots of big moments in those early comeback wins and in the playoffs early on. Doesn't even show the Chicago game where he stole points from them. He's inconsistent, for sure, but when he's on he's such an excellent goalie. Hope he finds more consistency this year.

2) There's a lot of luck in these comebacks. Sure, effort and determination can create lucky bounces, but there sure were a LOT of lucky goals, especially in the first half of the season. When people tout PDO as a measure of luck, they don't even need to do that, just look at some of those highlights (Brodie's winner against Boston comes to mind).

3) Bouma is clutch. He had some great goals at key moments in those comebacks, and he actually has a pretty good shot now. Anyone who believes that last year was a fluke needs to watch how he plays. He'll definitely get around 15 goals again this year.

It just seems to me that those early comebacks were a team still figuring out how to win. It happened less as the season went on as more and more wins came from doing it the right way, but they still knew how to comeback when they needed to. That experience will go a long way to making them a difficult team to play against.

Great work as always AC! I will be watching this multiple times for sure.

One thing I thought would have been neat would have been to splice in clips of pundits claiming they couldn't keep it up and they were going to fall back to Earth at anytime, and then roll into highlights of the next comeback.

I thought this too, especially given the intensity of his celebration afterwards. Like, yes, it's his first career hat-trick and it tied the game, but it seemed to be a celebration that included a "I can't believe that actually worked!" element.

Of course, how do you ever convince others that you intended to do something like that? Having said that, if anyone could be convincing in this case, it's Johnny Hockey...

The 2014 / 2015 season can never be replicated. I fully expect the Flames to be a better team..and win more games in the coming years but that's half the problem. We all expect it now.

Plus if they are better, fewer comebacks and less drama. A thrilling third period comeback just leaves you so much more juiced than a 3-1 win where you controlled the game start-to-finish. We all love the latter, but the pure exhilaration of the prior is unreal.

AC -> This is also my favourite Vid of the summer and I can't thank you enough for this. The best 2014/2015 keep-sake I have. I love that from the ample comments from the broadcasters (usually Ball / Hrudy) you totally get the sense that they just did this #### all year long. Which they did!!

That was just incredible. What a magical season! Just think that if one or two of those comebacks didnt happen, we may not have made the playoffs.

Its a real shame they couldn't have ended up winning the Ottawa game. I had to go out that night so I PVRed the game. When I got home late I asked my wife to check the score to let me know if it was a game worth staying up really late on a work night to watch. For example a Flames win or at least a fairly close loss. She told me yes. So I watched the entire game. When the Flames were down 4 to 0 midway through the 3rd period I started getting grumpy. 'Oh great I stayed up til the wee hours of the morning to watch this? She probably read the score wrong. Or the Flames will probably score a goal or two at the end to make it a little more respectable.' But then when they tied it up I was going crazy. Good times!

Really looking forward to next year!
