Pretty cool to break the drought. The horse cruised that length.

Dominating win and he had a lot left if needed. 2nd quickest winning time in Belmont history...only the immortal Secretariat was better.

I love the sport and really hope this injects a little life and interest into it.

You are right when you say "immortal" Secretariat was the Gretzky of horse racing, he wasn't just better, he was off the charts.

Heh...Secretariat was Gretzky, Orr and Lemieux rolled into one. He truly was and is the biggest "freak" the sport has ever seen.

His jockey was a Canadian guy named Ron Turcotte whose career tragically ended 5 years after the triple crown win and at the same track where he and Secretariat set marks never to be seen again. He was thrown from a mount and ended up a parapalegic. Met him many years ago when he was doing the circuit to raise awareness and money for diasabled jockeys.

Cool guy for sure.

Oh and just to emphasize how dominant Secretariat was....if he had run today, he would have beaten American Pharoah by 15 lengths.

It was neat seeing 93 year old Penny Chenery (Secretariat's owner) there watching the race today.
