The draft is on!

Draft order determined by this thinghere (https://www.random.org/lists/).

Draft order is snaking due to an outcry.

Trades welcome any time, including multiple-for-one trades. If you trade during the tournament, you lose all the points that the team has accumulated for you thus far.

After selection day, we'll throw all the teams that made the tournament selection but weren't drafted by any of us back into the draft, and you can replace your teams that didn't get selected with some that did. So, for example, if you picked a team that didn't get selected, the team is removed from your roster and next time your pick comes around, you can fill it with a team that did make the tournament.

Last year we reversed the draft order for the make-up picks. We'll do that again this year.

In the event that the draft isn't finished by the day before the tournament, we'll have a last minute 'feeding frenzy' round where you can fill out your roster without worrying about draft order.

"First 4" games won't count. Don't hesitate to pick a 12/13 seed though. You'll just have to fill out your team with a 15 or 16 seed on the Wednesday if they are eliminated in the play-in games. Same rules as last time for bubble teams. Feel free to pick Kentucky in the 5th round based on their talent even though they might not make it. Just fill out your team with a team that actually made it after Selection Sunday.

Scoring is now just 1 point for every game regardless of round.

If you have any questions about how this works, please feel free to ask.

Wow, I think the top 7 were obvious and the rest of the field is crap. This is so stupid and dangerous, but I do think the next two best teams might be the MVC teams. So, I'll take the one with the best guards.

Suspiciously similar to the draft order.

Here's a decent opportunity to post this humblebrag from last year.
Was surprised to have 2 final four teams, while picking eighth.

I wouldn't read too much into these rankings. I thought Silver's predictions for the World Cup last year were pretty lousy.

I wouldn't read too much into these rankings. I thought Silver's predictions for the World Cup last year were pretty lousy.

I would expect the order of selection to roughly follow the rankings. I wasn't going to take Hampton or UC Irvine with my 2nd or 3rd pick and I would have given some grief to someone that would have really gone off the board. There will be some variation due to preferences (my ACC preference), but it should be pretty close.

I had Iowa State out in the next round anyways so no harm, no foul. It's pretty much a given now that at least one 2 or 3 seed is going to lose in the opening round now. Seems to happen almost every year.

Solid win for Wichita State. Had some trouble early, but found some depth in Zach Brown and Fred Van Vleet just took over offensively. A little soft on the boards. That will be addressed.

I think the way Indiana plays is moronic. They speed up so much, they are out of control half the time. They have some athletes though and Yogi is fearless. I know who the better point guard is though.

On to the Jayhawks. SO PUMPED!

watched the Dayton Providence game last night. I don't know how that one Providence "star" wasn't punched out by his teammates for his shooting performance, which, if you didn't see was Rudy Gay-esque. 7 for 26, and that includes a couple of late 3s in the final 2 minutes when the game was out of reach.

In any event the crazy thing was that one of the commontators said that of the 11+ Million espn brackets which were filled out, there was 1 left that was perfect.

I don't know how that one Providence "star" wasn't punched out by his teammates for his shooting performance, which, if you didn't see was Rudy Gay-esque. 7 for 26, and that includes a couple of late 3s in the final 2 minutes when the game was out of reach.

I feel bad for Providence. Cooley was the easiest to root for last year. Had to play an away game against a team seeded 5 seeds lower. The selection committee really screwed Boise State and Providence with their bracketing and seeding here. Providence got a bad whistle all night starting with an awful flagrant in the first minute and an absolutely ridiculous technical. Foul shots were 30-7.

More than happy to lose Arkansas. At times it wasn't pretty, but the Heels are still kickin'. Hopefully Meeks' knee isn't too bad.

i'll admit i don't watch March Madness every year but I do tend to catch at least a handful of games each year. Some year's i follow it very closely.

But I cannot recall the refereeing ever being this questionable, game after game. I'm not married to any team and just want to see good basketball so it isn't like ive got an agenda on this.

Even the commontaters are openly questioning the calls which is so rare to hear/see.

Brutal.

Imdont understand why fans and players of the bench shout "De De De Defence" football players do it too sometimes, it's stupid. Players know they're playing defence.

Also, timeouts, get rid of them. The only reason for timeouts in sports is that the coach thinks his players are so stupid that he has to draw up a play for them every time. Soccer has it's drawbacks, but at least I don't have to put up with timeouts in that sport.

@vgregorian: Marshall on solution to KU scheduling series: "I'd love to play them in the (NCAA) tournament every year.
Ooooof. Not holding back. Dis, any sense on how this game changes Self's refusal to schedule Wichita?

WVU is in the Sweet 16! Bob has done such a great job with this group. 17-16 last year and we lost >40% of our scoring from last year. Hope the national media gives him the credit he deserves this week for this year after a couple years of really rough results.

Second weekend!

I really don't see Self becoming any more open to playing Wichita State in Wichita, and that's what it boils down to.
Self doesn't want to risk losing in the largest city in the state. That's not good for recruiting.

Marshall did a fantastic job of getting these guys ready to play yesterday. They were fearless, poised and knew they were the better team. No small feat with the way the team has been playing in recent weeks.

Notre Dame will be tough.

Another great season for the Shocks. Nothing to hang their heads, over.

If ever there was a lesson learned from poking the bear, West Virginia learned it last night. WOW.

Can't wait for the Kentucky/Notre Dame game. I think Notre Dame might be the last team in the tournament that has a "favorable" match up with Kentucky. I think it will be a great game.

Might be tough to convince anyone that we had a great season after last night, but I'm really happy with this past year. Bob was a deserving B12 coach of the year.

I've heard that coaches think that Wisconsin has the best matchup against UK. Not sure they get past Arizona in Staples though.

Gonzaga's 13 TO doesn't seem like too bad of a number for today's college game but both teams were so tired that they were really slowing the game down. 13 TO on 59 possessions is a pretty ugly TO% of 22%. That is bad.

Before the tournament if I were to pick 3 teams for UK to face in their last 3 games it would be ND, Wisconsin and Duke. What an amazing final few games this could be.

Wichita State nearly doubled Marshall's salary. $3.3 Million. I don't know where that puts him but I gotta believe he's right around the Top 10.

Fantastic job by the University of being proactive and especially of being aware of just how great this guy is and what he means to Shocker basketball.

Could have his best team next year......

The best part about this though, for me anyway, is reading all the stunned comments from Alabama fans and some of the talking heads who were just certain that not only would Marshall jump at the job (not sure it isn't a step-down in reality) but that Wichita State couldn't afford to pay him much more than the $1.85 M he made this year. It feels so good when the spoiled don't get what they want.

Well that terrible call that cost Wisconsin that 3 may end up being the game changer. And then the refs confirm it with a total non-call on a flagrant. Yuck.

Really tense final ten minutes but Wisconsin overcomes some bad calls to make it 38-1 for Kentucky. Might be the best look we'll ever get to see an undefeated season but nice to see Calipari go down.

Kentucky fans decide to get their Canucks fan on.

And then Andrew Harrison decides to drop a "#### that n****" on Frank Kominski. I really do believe losing to the primarily white Wisconsin infuriates several Kentucky players more than saying losing to Duke would have pissed them off.

That's a tough one for Wisconsin to swallow. One of those games that will haunt the players for years to come. They had Duke on the ropes with 9 to go and just couldn't get the knockout blow they needed.
