Cracked the screen but figured out a solution for myself for a new phone.
This one still works, but will take some love from someone more well versed in repairing cracked screens. The LCD still works, I've been using it broken for a couple of weeks. It's come to my attention that the parts to fix are a bit pricey right now, but the phone still works as is. But I've dropped the price substantially.
