Scientists have found a new knee ligament. (http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2013/11/131105081352.htm)

It's also one that they believe plays a pivotal role in knee stability after an ACL tear. If this is corroborated and a treatment/surgical technique is refined, this could be the next great step in knee injury recovery.

It's great in that it'll help improve knee reconstructions specific to ACL surgeries, but I'm a little blown away by the fact that the article says this ligament was suggested to exist by a French surgeon in 1879 and just 134 short years later was finally corroborated.

That and and the fact that in the history of knee surgeries at least one surgeon didn't go "Holy #### what the hell is that thing right there!?!?".

This, of course, happens the year AFTER I get ACL reconstruction.

That is crazy, I wonder how many other ligaments or tendons have been missed/ignored?
