Having a large dog; that also means I am buying large bags of dog food. What I am looking for is some sort of stoarge bins to keep the food in. (He gets two different kinds of food.)

I had an idea like these kinds of bins:
http://www.staples.ca/en/Rubbermaid-ProSave-Ingredient-Bin/product_330569_2-CA_1_20001

However there is no way I'm spending more on dog food bins than an iPad. Those bins may be top quality, but I don't need anything quite that good. I'm just trying to organize the storage in my basement a bit.

Anybody have any suggestions?

There are some less expensive options here. Some prices in Cdn$ and some in US$ not sure why.

I bought mine at Petsmart for less than $50. But it doesn't hold a large bag of dog food which is annoying.

I bought a 46L bin from Rona a few years ago. It was on sale (I think I paid around $20 at the time). It fits a 13kg bag of dog food (we put the bag right in) and has wheels on the back as well.

this is the one but from the staples website:

Yeah if you don't care about how it looks or whatever I would just get some Rubbermaid bins or something of the like.

haha, Holy. Over $200 for those things?

Do you know anyone in the food service industry? Get a couple of those 16L buckets. I use them and they work great. You can even stack them if you want.

I'm sure a restaurant, hotel, hospital, old folks home, etc could give you a few for free.

Just make sure you clean out the mayo/veg oil/butter first!

We bought ours at Walmart. It is a tall storage bin with a lid. There were lots of options to choose from. Doesn't look fancy, but it does what it needs to do and sits in the back of the pantry 99.3795% of the time

This is what we use - the bottom one is the dog food. The other two I use for flour and sugar (buy in bulk at Costco). Can't remember where we got them though - WalMart? Home Depot? One of the kids think perhaps UFA but I don't remember that. I seem to recall they were less than $20. Maybe Rona?

We buy a 28 lb bag of dog food (3 small dogs) and it fills it not quite 3/4 full. I'm sure we could get another half bag in there, fairly easily.

Thanks for the input everybody. Ended up buying a couple of these:

They didn't come up on my searches for "storage bins" or "food bins." However I thought I had seen something like that there before.
