A gem from Down Goes Brown last night:

Down Goes Brown ‏@DownGoesBrown (https://twitter.com/DownGoesBrown) 13h (https://twitter.com/DownGoesBrown/status/328325608243355651) So if Boston loses tomorrow, they play the Leafs. In related news, the Bruins' starting goalie will be a photo of Peter Chiarelli laughing.

Go Sens.

I would enjoy a Bruin smackdown of the leafs.

i need to clear all cache/history after posting this. If my wife sees it, i might have a "drought" on my hands ....

ITT: Senator party.

Nothing would make me happier than to watch the Bruins slap around the Leafs for a few games.

If Boston loses, they may get Pittsburgh in round 2. Do they really want to set themselves up for that so soon? Although there probably will be at least one upset, so maybe they won't be concerned about that.

Really? How does this work?

Also, Jim Hughson is employed by CBC, so it's not likely they'll get a TSN broadcast :D

A MTL/TOR series would be all consuming of the CBC, something they've longed for since putting the Leafs in the East way back when. A series hasn't happened in 37 years and 3 since 1967, that they've met in the playoffs, the Leafs haven't won a series against MTL since that 67 series.

In recognition, they'd shoot the series with one camera and in black and white. Expect to see may trips down memory lane all series, going back to "what could've been" in 1993, and dusting off all sorts of old footage.

I would rather see Boston put a 4 game beatdown on the leafs so we can be spared the toronto media for weeks.

Turris gets an empty - netter. Looks like the Sens will win

So the Eastern Conference Quarter finals look like this:
Pittsburgh vs. NY Islanders
Montreal vs. Ottawa
Washington vs. NY Rangers
Boston vs. Toronto

Darn, was really hoping that Canada would get the classic Montreal - Toronto series.

Still, happy that there's at least one Original Six matchup, and for the first time since...whenever, all Original Six teams made the playoffs. Great for hockey.

The CBC gets the first two picks of the eight playoff series and many people predict that the Bruins-Leafs and Canucks-Sharks series will be on HNIC. The Canadiens-Senators will be televised by TSN and RDS.

Interesting, but if the CBC gets the first two picks, it would be ######ed to not take take the series that give them Leafs, Senators and Habs viewers, as opposed to the Leafs and Canucks?

I mean, obviously only if the NHL is willing to stagger the Leafs/Bruins and Habs/Sens series. Which I'm sure they'd be willing to do.

The CBC will have angry viewers from western Canada, especially from British Columbia, should they not televise the Canucks series.

The anger will go both ways with an all canadian series not being televised by HNIC, eastern Canada viewers will be very upset.

I am surprised if that's the case although it's pointing to that

I would always think with their first two picks their order would be

Leafs
any series with two Canadian teams
Vancouver
Montreal
Calgary
Edmonton
Ottawa

I don't think anyone will be pissed as whatever Canadian teams aren't on CBC are on TSN. When the Flames were on TSN in 2009 against Chicago, I don't recall much anger, as TSN is seen as superior by lots of fans, and it's not like it's 1993 and a bunch of fans don't get to watch their team if it's not on CBC with their rabbit ears.
