Keeping the shots from bad angles is what is winning us this game. The team is noticeably different now, the amount of pressure they are putting on the puck carrier is insane compared to last year. When someone has the puck for Detroit there is almost always a Calgary guy attacking him. Hopefully they don't start sitting back and standing around, the pressure will win us this one.

Brunner has been diving all over the ice. He needs to stop that garbage.

What's the worst that could happen? Better off to do it early and see how he responds. Gives a better idea of where he's at. I would put Brodie on him before butler, smith, sarich or wideman.

Yeah, issue out of nothing. Young defenders get occasionally matched up against big name players all the time, it happens. It's not ideal but it's going to happen in each and every NHL game every night.

Should have been an even call. Call the dive too, or call nothing.

Oh good. No late goals allowed?

Serious note, that was a great 1st period. Smart defensive play in our zone with active sticks, and we're being a (little) less fancy with offensive plays in the zone and getting pucks on net.

Oh he still shows his inexperience. But Giordano should be our #2 guy, or perhaps even #1, and Wideman has been noticeably better.

Brodie has been playing great, and is showing a lot of growth and great potential. I put him ahead of Giordano RIGHT now.

I am liking Bouwmeester's play, he jumped up on the rush, cross-checked somebody, he dropped to his knees and blocked a shot. I don't remember him doing any of those once last year.

Solid road period. Cammy and Jarome steppin' it up!

Kipper looks 200% better than the last couple games.

I think a road trip is what the doctor ordered for the team.

My only beef is with Tanguay, shoot buddy!! Guhh. Still forcing those passes like no tomorrow. No need to be over-the-top fancy just cause you're in detroit's house.

As for DET, Zberg is pesky as always. Can't seem to knock the puck off that guy's stick..

Always thought one of Kippers greatest strengths was his ability to direct his rebounds right to where only his player could get them. Hasn't really done that at all that at all this year but tonight he is doing a real good job of it. He has also been tracking the puck real well for the last two games as well. Good sign. Hopefully hes snapping out of whatever crap rut he was in.

I remember listening on the Fan where they did an indepth goalie analysis. Whoever they had was talking about how goalies usually learn by pure repetition and the instinctual aspects of the game leave when you stop playing. Most of the time in practice the goalie does small maintenance where most of the work is in the games. They also talked about how, after the break, if any player was going to have a bad game it was going to be Kipper and boy did he ever.

I typically disagree with everything the panel says but no lines were crossed in that fight. Its not like the guy was laying on the ice. He was still on the way down and as mentioned, the adrenaline is going and its real tough to stop on a dime when the guy still has your jersey.
