Have a bet with a friend? Gonna make a wager on a gambling website? What sort of action to you have on this upcoming season?

Myself, call me a homer, but I feel the Flames chances for making the playoffs in a shortened season are about 50/50. On Bodog, they have the odds for our Flames making the playoffs at 4/1, parlay that with the over on 50.5 points on the season and my $100 wager has a pay out of $835... seems like pretty good value on a 50/50 bet.

I've got $100 on the Flames to win the cup ($5000 payout) Easy money. Also have $50 on the Flames to make the playoffs ($200 payout) and $50 on them to collect more than 50.5 points ($43 payout I think)

I presume you mean "easy money" for Las Vegas or your bookie.

Though I do like the playoff bet.

Well scratch that plan. I just logged into bodog to confirm my bet, and once I was logged in, it would no longer let me parlay the 2 wagers. Any reason why that would be?

I also put $50 on a player outside of the field (which includes Kipper) to win the Vezina. The payout is $1,650.

4/1 odds for them making the playoffs is a no brainer IMO - those are great odds.

and the over-under is 50.5 pts?? that projects to 86 pts on a full season... wow.

who is "in the field"? im guessing its their top 5 goalies or something?

that is a crazy payout on a trophy that is very random from year to year - especially in a shortened season!

I am not surprised at all that there is no love for the Flames out there. What DOES surprise me though, is that most of the 'experts' expect that they will be substantially WORSE than last year.

With all the injuries they had, with an anemic PP, with a horrendous SO record, with a coach that they clearly were no longer listening to - then you look at the overall changes to the team... I just do not see how you can come to the conclusion that they are going to be significantly worse this year.

Obviously there are some favourites in there, but it looks like a few one-hit wonders, has-beens, and never-beens on there too.

I agree. If there is one award that is wild card in a short season, it's this one.

I dropped $50 on the flames to win the cup at Bodog. $2500 payout. One never knows in a shortened season.

I just put another $50 on the Vezina "other" bet ($1650 payout). Lindbäck wasn't on their list either.

Could win $6893.48 if the Flames do well on $250 placed bets lol

Oh and I use bodog ftw

Because the 2 bets are related. In all likelihood if the flames make the playoffs they get over that point total too, so essentially you are doubling up the odds on the same "event".

I figured it was too good to be true, as the second bet on the parlay was essentially risk free. Just lame that they let you preview a bet before you log in, then I deposit my cash to make the bet, and then they pull the rug out from under it.

Oh well... just put $100 on the Flames to make the playoffs.

$50 in Vegas on the Flames to win the Cup.
$20/game against my supervisor for each Battle of Alberta.

The latter of the two is easy money. Shame they're only playing 4 times this season.

As an Oilers fan I won $200 two years ago from fellow Oilers fans betting they would miss the playoffs, another $200 last year on the same bet and it's going down again this year. I'm cheering for the Oilers but don't mind taking my irrational family members' money either.

I signed up for Bodog because of this thread, as I normally use sportsinteraction, and received the $100 sign up bonus. I have $50 on the field to win the Vezina ($1,650 win), $98.32 (max bet) on the Flames to make the playoffs ($393.28 win) and $100 on the Flames to have more than 50.5 points ($186.96 win).

Same as always. I have an ongoing bet with a buddy, who finishes higher in the standings, Calgary or Mulletville.

Tasty tasty rum.

I'm feeling loco esse, but I'm willing to take a bet on TJ Brodie vs Ryan Suter.

Suter PPG last year 0.58
Brodie PPG 0.26

Last time I made a bet like this was in 08/09 where I put $50 down that Weber would outscore Dion, and got laughed at by my pals. We all know how THAT turned out.

This is a pretty big flyer, but I'm thinking Brodie really steps it up this year and Suter drops in production. Will need some kind of point spread though.

I took many bets so far, but one of the more interesting ones is me having Tanguay finishing with more points than Hall. His noggin has already taken a few stitches thus far, and with a condensed schedule, I just don't think he will play all 48.

Further, what does the sign up bonus mean. They give you $100 but you can only claim the winning portion of a bet made with those 100? Further if you lose that bonus $100 does it affect your initial deposit?

The Bodog props are up again for the 2013-14 season. I'm guessing it's mainly due to our large wagers here, but there is no longer the ability to go with the field for a particular award. I was lucky enough to win with Bobrovsky last year. This year, if you want another goalie, you can request it from them. It's too bad, as I would have put some money on the field in the Hart Trophy category, and profited when Iginla took it home.

The over/under on the Flames points is set at 74.5 ($100 eager to profit $86.96). To make the playoffs is +475 ($100 wager to profit $475) and to miss the playoffs is -700 ($100 wager to profit $14.29).

I'd totally do the make the playoffs bet. You never know and $100 eight months from now won't even sting. Too bad I won't get a paid until after the season starts.
