About five weeks ago, I found a four-pound jar of Jelly Belly by Kirkland jellybeans at Costco. So, 49 flavours later, I just wrote up a short review of all of them. Now, this reflects my personal tastes, and I'm sure you all will disagree with me, but really I couldn't care less :D since I ate four freaking pounds of Jelly Belly and it was great. (btw I'm 5-11, 155lbs, and I figured I better do this before I turn 30)
Berry Blue – enjoyable, but underwhelming and non-discernible fruit flavour - 4/10
Blueberry – pretty close flavor to what one imagines blueberries to taste like 7/10
Bubble Gum – just like bubble gum ice cream, without the lactose 5/10
Buttered Popcorn – my least favourite flavour, it should be optional for those who like it -10/10
Cantaloupe – underwhelming to say the least 1.5/10
Cappuccino – like a sugary coffee crisp 3.5/10
Carmel Corn – Yeah, I can taste the caramel, but nothing to write home about 2/10
Chocolate Pudding – chocolatey flavour that Bill Cosby would approve of 5.5/10
Cinnamon – Chewy cinnamon hearts, but without that fake candy flavour 8/10
Coconut – pretty dull overall, but a not too sweet 3/10
Cotton Candy – it’s sugar. 2/10
A&W Cream Soda – just sugary & interchangeable with marshmallow 1/10
Crushed Pineapple – why is it crushed? It’s just super sweet pineapple 4.5/10
Dr. Pepper – love it. Very close to the actual pop 8.5/10
French Vanilla – pure sugar with a hint of vanilla 2.5/10
Green Apple – apple with a touch of sour 3.14/10 (get it? apple pi)
Island Punch – mystery fruity flavour that is more sweet than I'd like 1/10
Juicy Pear – very intense pear flavour 8/10
Kiwi – this one tastes like what you’d imagine a kiwi to taste like if you hadn’t had one in a while 7.5/10
Sunkist Lemon – Nice lemon flavour, just a bit of sour 8/10
Lemon Drop – cannot tell the difference, kind of the no-name version 8/10
Lemon Lime – If they called this one Sierra Mist, it would be apropos 6/10
Licorice – I love fake licorice flavor, hence this is still my favourite. I could eat 4lbs of pure black licorice 11/10
Sunkist Lime – tastes like the RealLime you buy in the store, but with lots of sugar added 6/10
Mango – like cantaloupe, I was expecting more, and had to look it up to see what it is almost every time 1.5/10
Margarita – aka “Lime Lite” 4/10
Mixed Berry Smoothie – this may have been an accidental flavour in the factory. Just random berries throw together 3.5/10
Sunkist Orange – I didn’t get the biggest orange blast 4.5/10
Orange Sherbert – better orange flavor with a bit of cream 5.5/10
Peach – a good solid flavour, very peachy 8/10
Piρa Colada – never had one to drink, so there’s some fruity pineapple and coconut hints there 3/10
Sunkist Pink Grapefruit – it’s not always obvious what this one is, other than the fact its citrus-y, but good 6.5/10
Plum – I’ve never had a plum that tastes like this, and I’m glad 2.5/10
Pomegranate – like one of those pomegranate drinks you buy at the store, but with much more HFCS 2.5/10
Raspberry – an idealized representation of the berry 5/10
Red Apple – it’s apple, just not sour 5/10
A&W Root Beer – root beer is super sweet as it is, so pretty accurate 6/10
Sizzling Cinnamon – basically extreme cinnamon, which is awesome 9.5/10
Sour Cherry – sour is a misnomer, but it’s very good cherry representation 8.5/10
Strawberry Cheesecake – kind of creamy, but really just that fake strawberry taste, like the fluoride at the dentist 2/10
Strawberry Daiquiri – not as fakey as the cheesecake one 5/10
Strawberry Jam – sweet, idealized strawberry flavor, but at least they all are unique from each other 4/10
Sunkist Tangerine – Pretty good and somewhat refreshing fruit flavour 6.5/10
Toasted Marshmellow – sugar. Might as well be cream soda 1/10
Top Banana – reminds me of the banana medicine I was given as a kid 2/10
Tutti-Fruitti – hard to differentiate from island punch, even when eaten back to back 1.5/10
Very Cherry – Much better than sour, and since I love the fake cherry flavour, this might be the best fruit flavour 10/10
Watermelon – amazing, lots of watermelon flavor without sickly sweetness 10/10
Wild Blackberry – I can see where it’s that flavour 6/10

Anyway, there you have it:
Science!

????

It says negative 10 out of 10.

My favorite flavors are Pear and Roasted Marshmellow.

I want to try 4 pounds of Jelly Belly's.

I remember these jelly beans. Fun thread!

I also remember the horror of my first buttered popcorn bean.

Yeah. the regreful thing is they camouflaged the buttered popcorn it to look like other jelly beans. I also have to agree that it is one of the most putrid tasting things. It tastes like rancid butter.

I remember there used to be a mint chocolate at one time. Those were good.

:bag: I like the popcorn ones.

Not a fan of the chocolate ones though.

Watermelon is awesome! Flavour is amazing, but the genius is in the presentation. The center is red with a transparent green candy coating.

If you are ever in Fairfield, California, go to the factory and go on the FREE tour. If you want to have lunch there, they have Jelly Belly shaped pizzas.

So how are you feeling after 4 pounds of processed sugar? (high fructose corn syrup probably) I'm surprised you had the wherewithal to write such a indepth review.

I have fond memories of strawberry fluoride from when I was a kid. The dentist I go to now has mint and chocolate, and my entire dental experience has been ruined.

You like the black licorice flavour?? So you're the freak who candy companies pander to when deciding which flavours to include in their bags o' sugary goodness? When I am king, you lot will be first against the wall.

Because of this thread, I am suddenly craving sour Jelly Belly and I'm going to pick up a bag today and eat them until my teeth hurt.

Well done with your insidious marketing.

Now I need a review of the other Jelly Belly flavours: booger, earthworm, dirt, grass, ear wax, soap, vomit, skunk spray, rotten egg, baby wipes, pencil shavings, toothpaste, and moldy cheese.

hands down favourite candy, buttered popcorn is good for the variety in the bag and helps make the other flavours stand out more. to me the contrast is a good thing.

Yep! Love this part of California! Six Flags near by, hit the Jelly Belly for the kids on the way to Wine country but the coolest tour in this area, Jelly Beans and Wine aside, is at Sutters Mill in Coloma, CA http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sutter's_Mill
Without Sutters Mill there would be no Golden Jelly Belly;)

Top Banana – reminds me of the banana medicine I was given as a kid 2/10

How is that a bad thing? That banana medicine is one of the greatest and most difficult to reproduce flavors on the planet.

Popcorn is good just on its own, but it can't be mixed with other flavours. Like if you throw a handful in your mouth and a popcorn sneaks in there it ruins the whole experience.

Black licorice is awesome, but again needs to be eaten by itself.

Chocolate and coffee are disgusting, but unfortunately look a lot like licorice in the wrong lighting so I'm often fooled into eating them.

Cinnamon is wicked as well and can be mixed with pretty much any of the fruit flavors for a little added spice.

Will be buying Jelly Belly today.

There is also an interesting documentary on NetFlex about the creator of Jelly Belly, called Candyman: The David Klein Story.

Ahhh, well that's significantly less impressive. ;)

And yeah, you did mention that in the first post. Must have breezed though it.

A big thanks to MRCboi for undertaking this vey important project. To some extent this reminds me of scientists who inject stuff into thier own bodies to test thier concoctions on themselves.

I am assuming that this lead to one epic dump

Combine Blueberry and Buttered Popcorn for an authentic blueberry muffin taste. Other than that, they should only be eaten on their own.

As well, combine Jalapeno and Raspberry for free sex machine
