Looking forward to Community, The Office, Modern Family and Dexter.

Also looking forward to calling shaw and canceling a crap load of services. There truly is very little on TV worth watching.

No Chuck until November, the **** is this bull****. Getting shafted until Fridays, only 13 episodes and not until November. NBC hates Chuck.

But **** it, let's watch Dancing with the Monkeys, America has no Talent, and a god damn Whitney Cummings sit-com. Holy damn I hate you NBC.

I swear if they cancel Parks & Rec and Community this year as well, I am going to burn their building to the ground.

Edit: Looks like October 21, not November for Chuck.

I'm guessing April or so. AMC has Walking Dead starting in October, and that will run till late January. Then they have a new western show(Hell on Wheels) starting after that and I'm guessing Mad Men will start Season 5 after that.

I can't wait for the new season of LOST.

Are you going to bother checking out that show with Benjamin Linus (Michael Emerson) in it? Sounds sort of like Minority Report.

Person of Interest: Centers on ex-CIA hitman and a scientist who team up to prevent crimes before they happen.

Worth checking out just for Emerson.

Opening night for the NFL now always begins on the Thursday, with the Superbowl winner vs. another top team (Packers vs. Saints). After the first week they will go back to regularly scheduled Sunday night games (I think they have a Sunday night game the first week as well).

Chuck's ratings are AWFUL. The only reason it's still on is because all of NBC's other shows also have poor ratings so it doesn't look as bad. Be thankful it's still on, period.

January 8.

And that's all right, I was actually thinking of the UK version. I watch both.

And also to fans of Chuck, I wasn't trying to come across as a ###### nozzle. But I closely follow TV ratings, and in these days when broadcast networks are struggling to keep their shows afloat, it's hard to justify a show with a small following.

It's funny, on the Hulu "best of show", it came down to Community and Chuck and Chuck ended up winning "Best Show". It's funny because both shows get pretty crappy ratings (Chuck's are worse), but both are among my favorite shows.

It isn't NBC's fault Chuck does so horrible, it is the 40 million ######ed Americans who choose to watch Dancing with the ****tards rather than good shows.

Most of my favorite shows get such terrible ratings, Chuck, Community, Parks and Rec, Fringe. Then shows like Big Bang Theory which I used to like but has gradually gotten rather terrible just increases in ratings.

American's taste in television is dreadful.

Premium cable is what we've got now... broadcast networks can't take the risk on new shows cause they just fail too quickly, apparently the exceptions are Terra Nova and Alcatraz, into which FOX is dumping a billion dollars. I'll survive with Dexter, Breaking Bad, Shameless, Justified, and Sons of Anarchy if all my broadcast dramas end up dead.

Angel, Firefly like this post

There's actually no reason to invest in new shows unless you know they're going to survive. Why get into the plot lines if the show is suddenly going to be gone.

If the show doesn't have moron's going through drug rehab partying or getting boob jobs it just ain't going to survive.

Apples to oranges. You can stick a coat hanger on your TV and get NBC for free... not Showtime, AMC, and FX.

Most people think broadcast is failing because people are torrenting shows and playing video games... but the overall TV audience is about the same, just everyone is shifting to cable.

Easy to do if you can put up NBC with rabbit ears, and most basic packages include it for no additional fee.

Either way, those other shows are all better than Chuck. Way, way better.

American's taste in television is dreadful.

Taste is relative . . . . . . the way I see it, the shows that have the best ratings win the "taste" test and everything else is eclectic which means your taste is awful. I love Community as well.

That goes for music as well. I can only assume my taste in music is terrible because I hate Rap yet its very popular.

Not exactly a premiere but a summer 2011 offering, I've liked Combat Hospital to date.

Its a hit in Canada, probably because of its unabashedly Canadian tone, but on shaky ground in the USA where ABC has shaved one episode off its schedule heading into September.

Terrific episode last week. DVR'ed last night but haven't seen it yet.

It could be one of those shows cancelled in the USA but continuing on in Canada.

I'm old school in my taste, I love smart T.V., but I'm not a fan of long story arcs because if you miss an episode your boned, this was why I lost interest in Lost for a while. You also always get that feeling that your going to be stephen King'd. Great series terrific buildup, lame stupid dumba$$ ending ie Lost, Seinfeld.

And I like Combat Hospital as well because they make Canadians look good and to an extent heroic.

Watch that Up All Night. I found it to be really funny. It was a pilot episode so it was a bit rough around the edges, but entertaining. Overweight? Are you serious?

I didn't mind the show. There were a few good parts, but overall, meh. I really like the three leads, Will Arnett, Christina Applegate and Mya Rudolph, so I am hoping it improves.

Free Agents was another meh.

I tried the Ringer and it was another one that I thought was okay. I am not the biggest fan of SMG though, so that may be why I wasn't impressed. It just seemed very predictable and poorly acted. I may give it another go if I remember.

Secret Circle I didn't even bother because it just looks dumb to me, frankly.

I'm looking forward to seeing Raising Hope. I thought it was cute. I am also looking forward to seeing Suburgatory. I like Jeremy Sisto.

So the season premiere of Two and a Half Men was....alright I guess. I didn't think it was terrible, but then it wasn't very good either. They took a ton of pot shots at Charlie Sheen. It gave off the feeling like the producers and writers hate his guts.

How I Met Your Mother was also ok. Again it wasn't terrible, but it wasn't extremely good either. I must say though, the girl who plays Nora is smoking hot.

I want to get back into How I Met Your Mother but my god was the last season and even the one before it just horrible. I never found the show to be that funny anyway (NPH is the only one I find funny on the show), but last season, from the ep's I watched, was terrible.

I watched the first episode of Free Agents, at best it is just 'meh'. It's only a pilot and I'll continue to watch until about episode 4-6, but if it doesn't improve, good bye.

I'm really looking forward to Terra Nova the most when it comes to new shows. The amount of money behind it is insane so the production value should be pretty damn good.

Also, Thursdays are insane, Big Bang Theory, Community, Parks and Rec, The Office, The League. Like my god, then on Fridays I got Fringe and Chuck. Thursdays are crazy good.

Last night I watched two and a half men which was OK, not great not horrible. I think that I will give it one more week to see what they can do.

Watched How I met your mother and it was OK as well. I still like it but it seems to really be losing momentum quickly. I love NPH and when this show dies I hope he gets a good spin off.

Also watched Whitney since there was nothing on before bed. It was brutal, I swear they had the laugh track on a 10 second loop no matter what they said and it was loud. At the beginning they said it was taped in front of a live studio audience but I guess they thought it was bad as well and had to use the laugh track. The only funny part was when she dressed up as a the naughty nurse.

I still have 5-0 and Playboy club on my PVR so we will see what they are like.

HIMYM was almost complete drivel--even Barney isn't funny anymore. I think even the laugh track was bored. How this hasn't been cancelled is a mystery to me, but one would think this is the last season ...

Yeah, HIMYM was renewed for 2 more seasons and all the stars have contracts for 2 more seasons so we've got two more years of what once was a really funny show... now not so much.

Fotze, in my opinion it's just kind of "tired" now. They've been dragging on the "is that the mother?" angle for 6 seasons now and like most comedy's on TV, after this many seasons it just gets kind of stale.

Eastern Girl

I think it got renewed for this season and next season already. Hoping they'll have a plan set out to end properly.

From what I remember reading, they have always had a plan for how it will end. They wanted the story to be told over 8 seasons and that's what they got, so I imagine, it will get tied up properly.

I'm fairly lukewarm on the show now. You get the occasional laugh out of it still, but I am mainly watching because I've already invested all this time in it, so I would like to see some payout.

I watched the 5-0 opener last night and thought it was good. I missed the last four or so episodes of the first season but had no issues keeping up with anything.

I also gave The Playboy Club a chance and it didn't work for me. Just didn't care about any of the characters and thought the acting was meh. Didn't really see anything appealing, but I am sure you men will find something that appeals to you. I don't think I'll be giving it another try.

I thought 2 Broke Chicks was pretty awful.

I like HIMYM... it may not be the funniest show on TV but I relate to it.

The early seasons were all about the crazy adventures they went on but as the season have went on all the characters have grown and see life a bit different.

I also believe that it is a show that you have to invest your time in because there is a lot of fore shadowing and pulling from jokes in the past.

I started watching (and am now fully caught up) The League & Parks and Rec over the summer, I'm pumped for both those premieres. Didn't realize they were on the same night, that'll help hit my new Sunday night void with Curb & Entourage now done.

I just need to get into Community now, especially since its back-to-back with Parks. Watched the 1st 2 eps & just didn't do it for me, but I hear it gets way better in s2, may have to give it another chance. Frankly Parks was terrible s1 & got 100 times better so it gives me hope.

I really enjoyed it last season too and I pretty much caught it by accident. It's really cute and silly and I love the dad. I was nervous because I wasn't hearing anything about it one way or the other so I wasn't sure it was going to get renewed. I hope it sticks around.

I agree about the haircut too. I thought at one point it was a wig. It's just too blunt a cut for her I think.

And I am hoping Criminal Minds can bounce back now that they seem to be righting the ship by bringing JJ back and getting rid of that annoying blond student chick. Never understood that move. Never understood why they got rid of JJ in the first place.

Anyone else watch 'Person of Interest'? I thought it was pretty cool, managed to keep me interested to the end. The actors could've definitely loosened up a bit though... the characters were a little stale. If that's how they act every episode it'll get tired fast. I may be late to the party with the new Monday shows, but 2 Broke Chicks is freaking awful. Kat Dennings couldn't get anymore annoying.

Playboy Club is another below 'meh' show. I never expected good things by any means, I just want Amber Heard on television every week and in that regard it succeeds. I also don't mind the lead actor, he has good charisma. Outside Amber and the guy though, it is pretty horrible, the plot is stupid and the writing is bad.

Hawaii Five-O was good, I like the show and was pretty stoked for this season after basically marathoning the entire first season in 2 days over the summer. The actors really make the show enjoyable and the production value is pretty good.

Looking forward to seeing Person of Interest tomorrow after work as well as all the comedy shows.

You're pre-positioning yourself to expect the worst. That's a helluva way to go about it.

I thought it was pretty good . . . . but I've been a big fan of the real Prime Suspect with Helen Mirren and its not in the same class.

They're in danger of making the protaganist a little too tough though and had to throw in that crying/begging for affection scene to take the edge off and give her some vulnerability.

It looks like they'll have a single crime solved every week versus the Mirren Prime Suspect scenario of developing a scenario over multiple episodes.

I'll keep watching.

My DVR is full of new shows and I've got to weed through them all in the next few days.

Too much advertising can turn people off from that product. I don't think I'm alone in my thinking. How many shows get advertised during the NBA finals ("She's the district attorney's daughter!") that end up flopping, for instance? Every year they seem to pick one show that gets a ton of promotion and with the possible exception of The Closer, they all seem to suck.

It works with products too, not just new shows. You know that Panago guy who used to be a construction worker and now, for some reason, is a chef? Hate that guy. I used to prefer Panago Pizza over others but now I think twice in large part because their ads drive me nuts. Same with those Telus commercials with animals. There are plenty of reasons to dislike Telus and their products, but those damn commercials are the icing on the cake.

Disapointed with the second episode of Up all Night.

Parks and Rec was a great episode. Ron Swanson in the beginning intro was awesome. Is there a funnier character on TV right now? Well on regular network TV.

The Office was meh. If I didn't have a PVR I prolly wouldn't watch it anymore. The first few seasons of that show were just so damn good, its the only reason i'll watch now.

New Girl was pretty funny. Kinda disapointed Wayans Jr. is leaving the show. He was really funny in that show.

Happy Endings is a good show. Almost got cancelled last year, hopefully the ratings pick up so it'll stay on TV. Was wondering what was going to happen with Wayans Jr with the 2 shows.

2 Broke girls was garbage.

I just rewatched the season premier of Community.

John Goodman was fantastic in his limited role.

Chang also was great, but only in the limited time he got.

I think they could have done the Troy/Abed storyline a bit better

The Pierce/Jeff conclusion was rather quick

But I'm starting to think the quality of the show is directly related to how much cleavage Annie shows. The more cleavage the better the show. Possibly because Alison Brie is a great actress and is very strong in her role as Annie, and thus Annie centric shows tend to be better. Possibly because I like boobs. Regardless Thursdays are going to rock.

Another show with the super cute little girl, the cardboard cutout middle child, the uber annoying male teenager with daddy issues who you hope dies in the end. The wisecracking yet somewhat stern father with a history, and the wife who of course is the rational heart of the family.

You have the evil guy with the sinister glare, the hot teenage girl love interest. Throw in some whiz bang cars, a plot line that they pretty much gave away in the first two hours that could have been drawn out.

And terrible crappy garbage unrealistic CGI that makes you cry out for two guys in a rubber suit.

Stunted lines, bad performances, hey we outnumber our enemies and they have ammo shortages and we obviously don't but we'll let them squat on a vital resource and negotiate with them?

WTF.

Hey going outside is against the rules, but we'll leave teenager sized holes in the fence and leave the keys to the car laying around.

Terra Nova was predictable, had sloppy plot lines and was a little cliched. . . but I thought it was ok. I'll keep watching it for a while I think.

Also, I'm not sure why people think of Lost as being the gold standard of television. I thought it was a mismash of awkward plots and inane twists that people thought was brilliant. I found Lost to be infuriating to watch.

I agree with you about Lost, and the reason why I distrust shows with long running plot lines as their central premise is that you are almost guaranteed that they'll go with the dumbest most predictable ending after they deny that its the ending thats coming.

"Oh no gentle view, the Island in lost is not a wating room for the dead or pergutory or hell, its much cooler then that. . . . way cooler, and way more awesome. And that man in black in the breakfast scene, he's bone jarringly awesome, not a revenge driven man with mommy issues like every other cliched villian in ever T.V. show"

This is the girl that's bothering you so much?

She gets her own series because she is cute, can act and is funny. Not sure that the problem is. The supporting cast was hilarious as well.

Seems silly to not like a series because some radio promo's bug you, but that's just me.

I know nothing about this actress or this series. If you heard the radio spots, you would agree with me that they are annoying. It sounds like she has a mouthful of marbles when she speaks. Not the best advertisement for the show, and it plays about every 15 minutes on the Fan 960.

Bleh

I agree . . . . . .

First day for a teenager on a dinosaur infested world.

He's escorted from the drop zone to the camp by heavily armed and clearly jumpy guards.

He hears the diabolical roars coming out in the jungle.

Then says: "I think I'll skip orientation and go see for myself!!! Unarmed!!!"

Bleh.

Of course, I could never get through a single episode of "Lost" so . . . . .

Don't think that Lost is the "gold standard", just simply really enjoyed the show and for commercial television, it was a breath or fresh air.

Terra Nova is not. Won't waste my time on it anymore. You thought Lost was not very good, but you'll keep watching the super-cliched and absolutely awful acting within Terra Nova?

Agreed. Not a bad show at all. I have been spoiled with big budget effects, so some of the shots of the dinosaurs felt like a step down. Other than that, it is pretty much what I expected. The characters will become more natural as the roles develop. Pilots within this genre usually feel a little corny as they drive home what they want you to expect from the characters and plot.

I was actually a little impressed with the foresight put into the logic of the premise. The alternate time thread, becoming accustomed to oxygen levels and food, etc.

I'll be tuning in next week, and for the foreseeable future.

Anyone catch the season premiere of American Dad on Sunday? I thought it was great, pretty much laughed through the whole thing. I should mention that I HATE musicals, even during the Simpsons' heyday whenever they'd do one I'd hate it. But this one was funny. Maybe its because they were mostly making fun of songs/pop culture from an era when I was immersed in pop culture, but I was on board. That and I saw Little Shop of Horrors as a kid.

I can't get that "Dipped a Toe" and "Daddy's Gone" songs out of my head! I laughed so hard during the latter song, when Steve & Roger had their shirts open acting all Backstreet Boys'ish and were just jacked. Thought Cee Lo Green was arguably the best celeb guest I had ever seen in a cartoon too, which I did not expect. I'm not a fan of his, but he did a great job.

Had to love the very end too: "Well, there you have it, that's our story. Stan's dead. Goodnight!" Great start to the season. I wonder when people will finally realize this show's been awesome for 3-4 years now, 100 times better than played out Family Guy.

I liked the concept of Terra Nova, but couldn't get past the terrible dialogue, bad acting and horrendous CGI. I will give the CGI a pass because I think we've been spoiled by big budget movies that have great CGI and expect everything else to be like that, but that great CGI is expensive and shows like these don't have it in the budget.

Acting/dialogue, I can't give a pass on. I thought the son(whatever his name is) was just brutal. Commander Taylor was very cliche as well.

I will watch one or two more to see if I can get into it, but I sure hope this show is more than about people living amongst dinosaurs.

After American Thanksgiving Thursday night games return but there on the NFL Network too.

My impressions of some of the new shows/ season premieres that I've watched:

Playboy Club: BRUTAL. Watched the first two episodes, and frankly, the bunny suits aren't enough to keep my eyes on the screen. Oh and the male lead? Mad Men called, they need you back on set for Jon Hamm's stunt double. Thanks.

Castle: boring, I have no idea why I watch this show. Two main characters are so boring. Barf. Do old people like this show or who?

CSI: interested in seeing the Ted Danson direction, but this show doesn't bring anything new to the table anymore. Good for something to watch when really bored- but with hockey coming up, I can't see wasting PVR space on this show.

Whitney: I thought the premise was good, but the pilot was bad. The boyfriend was pretty funny, if you like that sort of humour. I'll give it a few more episodes to even out, but I'm expecting mediocre.

HIMYM: Boring, annoying, and doesn't make me want to watch any more.

Modern Family: This show does NOT grab my interest, although it has it's funny spots.

The office: Um, I haven't watched this show for years and caught the premiere... WTF happened?

Blue Bloods: I really like this show, but I'm not sure it'll stick around too much longer. It's a shame it didn't get a better time slot.

Law & Order SVU: Dying. Once they lose the lady cop as well as Stabler, the show is all but done for. Speaking of which- do we get to see Law & Order UK, LA at all, or were they cancelled?

Prime Suspect: was decent and deserving of the promotion it got. Can see it might develop into a great show if given enough time.

Person of Interest: Loved it, despite it being so far fetched and ridiculous. Good entertainment IMO.

Free Agents: It won't last because it doesn't have a BIG name, which is too bad because I found it quite funny.

Up All Night: Has 2 big names, but the show itself sucks. The characters are just... you can't root for them so when they are acting like idiots, it comes across as idiotic.

2 and a half men: Meh.

Revenge: Only watched half of the first episode. Maybe pre-teen girls like it I don't know.

Looking forward to watching but haven't yet:
Man Up, How to be a gentleman, terra nova, Mike & Molly, New girl, House, Mentalist, whatever else I have on pvr or will have in the next week or two.

edit: forgot about 2 broke girls. Probably the worst of all, like the guy below says. Ha, and they're not even hot so there goes that justification.

I agree for the most part. I still find Castle entertaining, mostly because of Nathan Fillion, but I agree that their characters are becoming really dull.

The donkey backhand comment got me some weird looks when I snorted into my coffee at work. Nice.

If there was ever a predictable moment in TerraNova last night it was that the kid sneaking off with the girl would result in dinosaurs attacking them. What did they expect was going to happen? The kid didn't even get so much as a kiss from the girl, and looked like he wet himself when he saw her in the bikini.

And agreed with the Dad comment. You would think that a cop/inmate would have a bit more backbone dealing with his unruly kids than to look hurt and slowly back away when his kid is skipping school.

(and I was using a cheesey quote from the show last night to poke some fun at you)

I could just imagine after the whole Dinosaur attack son rescue, when the dad and the son are driving home in the car

Dad - "So son, that girl, did you at least get to second base with her"

Son - "No"

Or how all of the people with these horrific gashes to their legs and torsos still managed to look so full of life mere minutes after being catatonic on the ground.

If that slasher thing hits you with that much force, I'm sorry it isn't going to leave a 2 inch gash in your torso, its going to freaking cut you in half.

I definitely need them to tone down her character. It's too quirky, to the point where I can only tolerate it for a few seconds and I find myself tuning out. I also didn't much care for the new roommate. I do however like the other two roommates. Not sure how much more of this one I will watch, which is unfortunate. I really thought it had potential.

Terra Nova was boring to me too. Interesting at the beginning, but towards the end it got boring.

To me it seemed like they wrote the part about the future, and going back in time, had it all figured out perfectly, and actually made it interesting. Then, when they were done filming all that, and it was time to film scenes from the world 85 million years ago, they began filming and realized it was pretty boring. Who gives a crap how nice your house is, and dinosaurs are cool for about 10 min, so they decided to suddenly add the Sixers, and start twisting the story a bit.

The actors are pretty lame too. I was expecting so much more.

Ugh to New Girl. The first episode was ruined by the commercials, which showed all the funny parts. The second episode may have been some of the worst TV I have ever seen. None of the characters are even likable.

I watched Season 6 Episode 1 of Dexter and I think we are in for another long, ho-hum season, like Season 5. Not sure all the guest stars are going to be able to save this season...but it would dumb of me to judge the season after just one episode.

PnR and Community were good. The Office was definitely missing Michael. Kevin's "Warning! Warning!" had me laughing pretty good though.

It's because of a new invention called a PVR. It lets you record shows and then watch them at your own convenience. Gone are the days of having to set aside an exact time, cancelling plans, or staying up when you're tired and have to work the next day, all to watch your favorite shows.

Exactly... I still have all of last season of Boardwalk Empire on my PVR, noticed it jumped to the top again the other day, so the 2nd season must have started. When the cold weather hits us again, I'll cruise through those in a week or so I'm sure.

First Look: 'Absolutely Fabulous' returns with Patsy and Edina -- EXCLUSIVE PHOTOS

http://insidetv.ew.com/2011/10/03/absolutley-fabulous-first-look/

Ab Fab is back, darlings! As EW reported back in August (http://insidetv.ew.com/2011/08/29/absolutely-fabulous-specials/), the cult British series is returning early next year on BBC America and Logo with a trio of new specials. But you don’t have to wait that long to reunite with the boozy Patsy (Joanna Lumley) and Edina (Jennifer Saunders): EW has the exclusive first look at how the fabulous duo are holding up in the new specials, which marks the first time they’ve reunited since the BBC America comedy Clatterford in 2006.

As you might imagine, despite a teensy-weensy bit of age, Patsy and Edina haven’t changed much at all, as the two exclusive photos we’ve nabbed are classic Ab Fab:

I haven't had time to scan the whole thread but has anyone seen the show called "Top Shot"? Amazing reality tv show that is like a blend of Wipeout/Big Brother/America has Talent.

They basically invited the top shooters in the US made up of Cop, civilian, ex-military and firearm instructors that take part in crazy challenges using a very wide variety of firearms. The entire group is split into two teams. Each episode they take part in a team challenge. Whatever team loses that challenge has to nomiate two memebers to take part in an elimination challenge. Whomever loses that challenge goes home.

Great show, lots of personality, well thought out challenges. Well worth looking into.

Unforgettable irritated me greatly. I figured the whole "I never forget anything" would get tired really quickly.

I find Up All Night boring. I agre with the shoehorning in of Maya Rudolph, apparently she was supposed to be bit character but the success if Bridesmaids prompted them to write her in more than they planned. That show sucks.

Whitney - I will give it a few more watches, has some funny parts.

Free Agents - I actually kind of like. Clever dialogue.

Two Broke Girls - I laugh at this show. I have known so many girls that are one of the two (and many in between). It's not great, but since I watch all three shows around it, this is the one that I will watch the most I suspect.

Persn of Interest - neat premise, will continue to watch.

Another new show I've liked so far is Revenge, will be interesting to see where they take the show moving forward.

Cannot believe Up All Night got picked up, same with Whitney, I think they're both pretty subpar shows and don't see either one getting much better. How to be a Gentleman was just terrible, it's like they found the two worst actors in hollywood and picked them out as the leads, that show has to be cancelled immediately.

wtf? not Big Bang Theory funny? The Big Bang Theory hasn't been funny in 2 seasons. Outside Kaley Cuoco (who I watch because she is so fine) and Jim Parsons there is nothing funny about that show. Nothing clever, and the jokes are becoming more and more obvious/easy.

New Girl at least has more than 1 interesting character.

As someone who watches The Big Bang Theory regularly, I have no idea how in the blue hell this show is so popular.

There are so many better comedies than it, and yet it gets better ratings than them all.

We will be following Person of Interest. Show seems well produced and the people filling the roles seem appropriate.

I think the best part of the show will be learning about the characters` past instead of the person of the day to ``save``.
