I'm looking for a Freeware DVD Ripper. Looking to rip from a disc into .AVI format (or whatever) maintaining full quality. Every "free" product ends up being a demo and I can't find anything. So I'm turning to the all-powerful CP braintrust. Any ideas?

Handbrake (http://handbrake.fr) with VLC (http://www.videolan.org/vlc)

(The article was written for a Mac user, but the tools are available in PC versions as well.)

I use good ol' DVD Decrypter which was the first and most fully featured DVD ripper out there. It is a bit complicated but I'm sure you can figure it out.

Still works even though there has been no dev since 2005.

Love DVD Decrypter. That can't put in into a watchable format though can it? I thought it was just ISOs or video_ts?
