Dr. Katz... okay... that came on after the Simpsons but I just had to name it.

The Simpsons was probably the first "adult" cartoon so the answers will be great kids cartoons.

The Real Ghostbusters, Transformers, Thundercats, Gummybears, Spiderman, Speedracer, probably more.

Has it been that long? Geez, maybe you are right. I thought it was 1990 or something. I remember when I first heard about TMNT, my friend who was a year older came over for the afternoon and brought this brand new toy he just bought.. it was a turtle.. and it was a Ninja. Cool!

Roger Ramjet was a short-lived cartoon that had a catchy tune.

Underdog was pretty funny

http://web.utk.edu/~hunderw1/graphics/underdog.gif

And, of course, The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle.

Who could forget the scene where Rocky and Bullwinkle sell a solid gold car to Natasha and Boris for about $3 and two all-day suckers.

As Boris is driving off, Bullwinkle counts the money and yells after the car: "Hey, where are those two suckers you promised us!!??"

Hahahahaha.

Dragon Slayer - this was the cartoon based on the video game where you got to pick what Dirk should do before each commercial. When it came back you got to see what happened under each scenario. I loved it.

Also - in the "cartoons based on video games" genre there was a show called "Saturday Morning Showcase" or something with a bunch of cartoons - Donkey Kong, Frogger, Q-Bert, others. Loved that too.

But my all time fave is the Transformers.

Speaking of which, has anybody seen the trailers for the thunderbirds movie? It makes me so angry to see my favorite childhood institutions destroyed by a desire to make a cheap buck off of today's youth.

Oh man is that a classic! Speaking of other early animation...anyone remember Post Man Pat, or Bertha the green machine? I was always a big fan of Beetlejuice and Adams Family cartoon...TMJT was definetly the best with a close second coming to Ghostbusters. My where have all the good cartoons gone to now? I flip through the stations now a days and all I see is some stupid japanese animation like pokemon, dragon ball and other garbage. I feel sorry for the kids of today, I really do! I became a big fan of the mid 90's "Rocko's Modern Life"....that was a good one!

Anyone also remember the most hilarious show ever? It was called "The Hilarious House of Freigtenstein". It was a comedy spoof on all of horros classic characters. It contained some classic legends as The Count (Dracula) and Igor, "The Wolf man", The Librarian, Grizelda the Witch, The Oracle....Vincent price was a big star in the series....Brilliant stuff...

Easily the best pre-Simpsons cartoon was "Itchy the Mouse", created by Chester J. Lampwick. Before he came along, all cartoon characters did was sing and play the ukelele.

There's a drinking game where you take a shot each time Postman Pat grinds the gears. You can get sloshed pretty quick playing that game ;)
