Avs re-acquire Stafford

Denver, CO - GM Faith has announced that the Colorado Avalanche have re-acquired Drew Stafford from the Detroit Red Wings. "Drew was part of our core group of players when I was hired as GM of the Avalanche, we are extremely happy to have him back with out club" said GM Faith.

The deal breaks down like this:

To Colorado:
Drew Stafford
Cam Janssen

To Detroit:
Maxim Afinogenov

clause: 2nd to Detroit if Maxim bolts to the KHL

This move was to save a little bit of cash this off-season with our super expensive defense core and give us a little more cap space to spend on some UFAs.

Interesting move. Stafford struggled a bit near the end of the year with Buffalo but Afinogenov is older and more expensive so overall it's a decent move for both sides. I probably like it a bit more for COL.

So at worst a 2nd for stafford and jansen. I like it bit more for the Avs, but Maxim seems like he's found a home in atlanta so probably even deal.
