After watching the Season Previews tonight, I'm amazed, sickened and frankly a little worried!
Why are so many of the "Experts" picking Vancouver as the team to emerge from the western conference this year?
Yeah they got "Lulongo" and the lesbian twin sisters, Hair-Puller and Pussler......But Come on!!! ....why? why? why? do these talking heads think the Canucks can bring it back to Canada?
I hate seeing this kind of support for the Nugs, It would be my worst nightmare to see them parading Lord Stanleys Mug!!
There is NOT ONE person on this planet that hates the Canucks more than me!,,,,I'd love to hear some intelligent commentary on how wrong these guys are,,,otherwise I won't sleep tonight!

Hype means nothing. They are basing it on a bunch of ifs just like a few years ago when all the experts said Edmonton would score 300 goals. Just means more pressure for them. The puck can not drop soon enough.

How would you suggest one could start an intelligent conversation with someone so incredibly radical?
The solution as always is alcohol. It will help you sleep.
I hate the Canucks as much as the next Flames fan but they are a pretty good team. They've got an identity and a system which really goes a long way. Sedins are pretty consistent and they are PPG players. Luongo is a top notch goalie as much as I hate him. Plus they've got a bunch of overachieving wingers like the Flames. Plus they've got some pests which really throws a bunch of players off their game.
To pick them to come out of the west seems like a bit of a stretch but its not the impossible to fathom. However I just don't think they'll go very far having Wellwood being their third line center and Demitra being a top winger for them. Definitely will be tough competitors but coming out of the west? I don't think so, especially since the Flames will knock them off in the first round!
Experts are only credible when they say what you want to hear.
Get a second opinion.
Your avatar is wrong, it should be a golf club (or putter), like HPLovecraft's, because, you know, your team will be golfing in April this season, so the stick is irrelevant.
Every year, the Flames are the hot pick, and they lose in the first round. I'm fine with the Canucks being the media's darling(Though not so much with my Blackhawks...They're on the cover of ESPN magazine).
I am happy that the experts are picking Vancouver to win the division and the Western Conference this year. We all saw how well that worked for Montreal last year and San Jose and Calgary every season since the lock out. Even Detroit has been favored to win most of the years since the lock out and they only have one cup to show for it.
Being hyped and favored at the start at the season only means that you have all the other teams gunning for you. That is the beauty of sports what people say about you at the start of the season means nothing, it is where you are in April and June that counts.

Good point, The Flames have the experts pick for a few years now and it hasn't worked out. I like the dark horse role much better.
Oh noes, you're favorite team wasn't picked to win! *GASP*
Who cares what predictions say. I think the Canucks do have a pretty decent team, and shouldn't be underestimated when we play them. They aren't the Oilers.
