LMAO ... Boyd for the first line... wow. First he needs to earn consistant minutes as a 3rd liner, maybe even a 2nd liner but a 1st liner? C'mon...
Anyway, IMO Bourque has earned the first shot @ top line LW. I would like to see Nystrom get the 2nd line minutes with Lank's with either a UFA coming in or someone moving up.
Dawes would be a nice addition but I think we have a few players that fit his mold already.

why is this such a stretch?
Boyd has been a 1st liner in junior and in the AHL....his skill set suggests he's a 1st liner.....scoring 30 goals a year in his career would not surprise me at all...which would make him a first liner to me..
His skill set is suited for 1st and 2nd line ice and powerplay ice...his skill set is NOT suited for 3rd and 4th line crash and bang and grinding ice or the PK (although he seems to do this pretty well)...
Why do some people keep expecting him to be a great 3rd line banger BEFORE you giving him an opportunity to be a 1st or 2nd line scorer...i just dont understand the logic there....
"hey Boyd, we know you have hands and the ability to score, but why don't you show us how well you can be a 3rd line grinder before we give you a scoring role with us"
Besides, everyone is soo caught up with tiering lines.....ultimately, to me, Boyd should play with skill players, whether that's the 1st or the 2nd line.....he needs to play with guys who can do the crashing and banging so he can be an opportunist and pick up rebounds and score goals with his good hands...

Let him earn 2nd line minutes first... talk about putting too much pressure on a kid. Yes, there are expectations of him and no, he did not meet them last year.
Now you wanna plug him in on the top line? LMAO !!!

Boyd gets pushed off the puck so easily and just bounces off the other team, I think I might pull my hair out watching him play on the first line.
I take it you weren't a Cammalleri fan then? Cause he got pushed off the puck even more easily and thus I'm left wondering how much hair you pulled out last season.

I disagree that Cammalleri got pushed off the puck more easily than Boyd.

I agree, I think he is going to be an average 1st liner/good 2nd liner like Langkow in the future. But not next season. He will get lots of chances next year on the 2nd and 3rd line.
Yeah, I gotta agree I think it would be a bad idea to put Boyd on either the first (or even the second line) at this moment. Have him play wing on the third line this upcoming season, maybe give him some powerplay minutes, and see how he fairs and then move him onto a more dedicated scoring line if he shows something. Frankly, the only person I'd be comfortable upgrading from a bottom 6 to a top 6 role is David Moss.
how would moss feel after putting up a gangbuster year only to see boyd get bumped to the top 2 ahead of him?
Let Boyd earn his time. Give him a taste now and then, but he has to earn it. Doing it that way also pressures the guys in the top 6 to keep it up or their down a line or two.

Glencross too, but he is perfect for the 3rd line.
