Default Kings and Ducks hook up again

From the desk of the President and General Manager of the Los Angeles Kings.

The Los Angeles Kings are pleased to announce that they have struck another deal with the Ducks of Anaheim.

The Los Angeles Kings are pleased to have the rights to Niklas Lidstrom and the first round pick of 2009. In exchange for Mr. Lidstrom and the 1st round pick, the Kings have sent, defenceman Brent Seabrook, prospect Darren Helm and their 1st round and 2nd round pick of 2009 to the Ducks.

The Ducks have also sent $4.5M in cap money to the Kings to offset the inevitable salary difference for Mr. Lidstrom.

The Kings were blessed with an abundance of young prospective talent. This talent will almost surely do well in the future NHL. GM Axmann has decided that the Kings time is now and we will make our best effort to return to the CPHL playoffs and make our best run for the Stanley Cup. Mr. Lidstrom will help us work towards that goal in that he has excellent capabilities as well as leadership which this team will need. I have no doubt in my mind that Mr. Lidstrom will be wearing the C for the Kings in the new season.

Thank you, that will be all.

It sucks to lose Lidstrom but we found over the past year our organizational depth had dropped. This move brings in another 2nd 09 as well as a good young player in Helm who should turn out to be a consistent 3rd liner. Dion is now officially the leader of this Dcore, looks like his ego got in the way again!

Thanks to Axel for the easy talks, that team is stacked!

With the acquisition of Dion this makes sense. I really like Helm and what he has done in this years playoffs. Kings didnt have a #1 D man which they do now. Seabrook is a guy I really like as well and will complete Ravi's top 4.

Lidstrom is like one of the greatest players ever, but I guess the concern with him is how much longer will he want to play? I think he'll go one more year for sure to honor his contract so the Wings don't take a big dead cap hit next year, but when he lifts the Stanley Cup on Friday I wonder if he'll get that much closer to saying, yeah, I've done all I want to do in this game.

Theres a word that starts with F and rhymes with Duck. That's what the Ducks are with Dion leading their defence. He's single handedly made the NHL Flames into an absolute joke of an NHL franchise. Certainly he'll do the same in the CPHL.

The Kings are making a really strong push to become early Stanley Cup contenders, and they've hammered home that point with this deal. The Kings had a glut of talented defensemen and they were able to move one of them in Seabrook to obtain Lidstrom.

I think this deal is fair all around; the Ducks already have a great Top 4 so they could take a bit of a OVR hit and get a bit younger. The Kings get the best d-man in the CPHL and add a great captain to their squad.

Good job getting another large deal done guys.
