People on my street seem to think the limit is 90. I should sit on my drive way in a lawn chair and throw rocks at them.
50 km/h is the maximum speed limit for a highway that is located within an urban area
Is a quiet res street a highway?
Jayman put a sign in our community that the limit is 30, but I don't think that is binding.

Depends on the average running speed of the children from the area.

It's all dependent on the amount of beers you have consumed. There is an official formula, but I normally go by - 20km/hr for every 1 beer.
And then any amount over 7 beers constitutes the use of your horn to announce the presence of an above average drive on the street so all residents can come watch your skills in action.

Nope. The feeder routes in residential areas are posted as 30, but the roads that branch off them aren't posted.

Now that we've all agreed that it's 50- mind telling us what the dispute was?

My girlfriend is from Ontario, and apparently it's 40 unless otherwise posted there...Something I can't speak to. Anyways....she thought it was 40 here, I argued 50. Couldn't find anything on the internet, so CP it was.
I knew I was right, just needed something/one to back me up haha.

Meh, anyone from Ontario needs to be retrained in North American driving standards once they leave Ontario. It gets really entertaining when they move to Vancouver and are faced with a flashing green light. (Which apparently they call or used to call and "Advanced Green" light in Ontario which is/was the same as a green turning arrow... not so in Vancouver.)

So after 3+ beers you're accelerating in reverse?

I wonder what would happen if a cop stopped you along there going, oh I don't know, 90? Could you get out of a ticket since there is no posted speed limit?

It's 50 unless otherwise posted. Of course, it's not "really" 50 there, it's the City being typically stupid and not bothering to put signs up after the construction was done.
I've phoned 311 about these matters so many times, I think I'm singlehandedly responsible for most of the signage in NW Calgary.
