There has probably been a thread like this before but let's start it up again.
I'm interested to hear what songs people find really moving? Maybe not your favorite song but just something that makes you go WOW! music, lyrics how they work together..whatever.
I've got many..I'll start with this...
"Black" from Pearl Jam's Ten. Something about the way this song is presented is perfect for me. It just seems so sincere. There are a few Pearl Jam songs I could use but this is probably at the top. There are a load of killer live versions floating around too. Check it out.

Black
sheets of empty canvas, untouched sheets of clay
were laid spread out before me as her body once did
all five horizons revolved around her soul
as the earth to the sun
now the air i tasted and breathed has taken a turn
and all i taught her was everything
i know she gave me all that she wore
and now my bitter hands shake beneath the clouds
of what was everything?
all the pictures had all been washed in black, tattooed everything...
i take a walk outside, i'm surrounded by some kids at play
i can feel their laughter, so why do i sear
and twisted thoughts that spin round my head
i'm spinning, oh, i'm spinning
how quick the sun can, drop away
and now my bitter hands cradle broken glass
of what was everything?
all the pictures had all been washed in black, tattooed everything...
all the love gone bad, turned my world to black
tattooed all i see, all that i am, all i'll ever be...
i know someday you'll have a beautiful life, i know you'll be a star
in somebody else's sky, but why
why, why can't it be, why can't it be mine?

Jeff Healy's version of "While My Guitar Gently Weeps"
also Jeff Healy's "Angel Eyes" and "Lost in your Eyes" are great.

"Hotel California" by the Eagles

...I'll add more as I think of them. I'm sure you're all just wondering what other songs grab me by the nuts

When I first read "grab you by the nuts" I immediately thought of Jesus Built my Hotrod by Ministry. I've had very few speeding tickets in my life, but every one occured with that song playing.

However getting at what you are really asking, I'd have to say Street Spirit by Radiohead.

I think we could hang out. Great taste in Music.

I encourage all of you that enjoy Bon Fires in the summer time to listen to 'Last Summer' by the LostProphets. I spend my time away from work in the summertime back home in Manitoba, usually around a bon fire with friends that I haven't seen for a year. This song puts it all into perspective. here are some of the Lyrics that get me every time:

We trace the sun across the sky
And we laugh till we cry
Always so hard to say goodbye (good bye)
And we all sit round here in our home town
It's so good like this, these are times we'll miss
The memories, I hope they'll never fade
Glowing embers lie across the sky

i recently went back and listened to the following:

rem - out of time, green

perter gabriel - us

all 3 have many songs that do it for me. recently got a decent set of speakers, could hear the subtle nuances in the harmonies and the playing that i couldnt before...

Ummm...I don't have any of the aforementioned anatomy, but "Unforigven" by Metallica.

I don't really like hard rock (metal?), but there's something about this song.

Desperado-- whenever that song comes on the radio I go into a daze and nothing can bring me out of it until it's over.

Metallica - Hero of the Day.

When the song was used for one of the Flames tributes, It brought a tear to my eye.

Freak On a Leash - Korn
Thunderstruck - AC/DC
Its a Long Way To The Top (If You Wanna Rock 'n' Roll) - AC/DC
Baba O'Reilly - The Who
Lose Yourself - Eminem (Ya, I said it!)

Lots more, but that about sums it up for now.
