I was craving Apache Burger tonight, and was wondering the same thing for Calgary.

Failing the Ship, Burger Inn does a great Hawaiian burger (as well as, like, every other kind of non-human meat available - conveniently shaped into a minced patty; they have wild boar for example, in case your friend's name is Obelix). And Peter's Drive-In I will miss for the way they relish... well, relish.

Wild Boar?? Really? That is ridiculous. A Hawaiian burger sounds pretty good though... is that the place on Bow Trail?
Is Peter's Drive-In no more?

No I'm just not in Calgary anymore.
Yeah Burger Inn on Bow Trail or there is one down on 4th St SW - very near the Ship. Hana Sushi (excellent) is across the street.

Peter's is still there...but is NOT the best burger in the city.
Try Boogie Burger (Edmonton Trail & 9th Ave I think)

Lots of good choices:
Boogies is excellent
Giant Burger on 17th Ave SW is good, get it with Swiss.
As is Rocky's Bus - now that's a BIG damn burger.
There is a great burger joint in Westgate Mall called Extreme Burger. Very good.
The Ship Burger is excellent and it's also a Calgary destination so its' a good choice.
I'll also tell you where NOT to go: Billy Burger on Edmonton Trail. Awful awful burger.

Absolutely the best burger I've had in the city. Nowhere will you find a burger that is as purely about the beef as Rocky's. The burgers are massive, the outer layer is thick and almost bacon-like in texture, and the meat just falls apart in your mouth, while still being very lean.

Are they open in the winter? I'd go more often, except my enjoyment of the burger would be greatly reduced if I had to eat it out in -5 or below weather.

As long as there isn't an actual snowstorm, they're open year round. But yeah, plan to sit in your car and eat, or get them to go and take them to another location.

Someone needs to bring Red Robin back to Calgary. They have my all time fave burger - the Banzai Burger. I miss that burger.

It's 8:30 am and I am drooling over the thought of a Rocky's burger right now. Hands down the best burger I've ever had let alone in the city. I live in Red Deer now and I've justified a couple trips to Calgary with some other errands just to get one.
Does anyone know their actual hours. I heard they were going to start opening on Saturdays, is that true?

A 6 oz. burger.... made with AAA Alberta Angus Beef, and everything is made fresh to order from scratch. No frozen patties here.

It melts in your mouth. Delicious.

p.s. Your friend will like Tommy Burger. Very nice decor, very upscale place to eat. ... and then afterwards you can go next door to Mr. Shanks and have a few cold ones.

If you want some nice ambiance while you eat your burger, Milestones has a good one - or at least the last time I went there they did... the California burger or something like that? - at the downtown location.
