Pretty even game... shots were about even... The Bolts got 2 goals in the first period, but the Leafs got one in each and took 2 points. Lundqvist was solid one night after a terrible 3rd period against the Sabres. The Leafs shuffled the top 2 units and although they didn't play great, they were good enough to win.
Leafs have a day off before a 4 games in 4 days stretch. We were on fire earlier in the season but have been playing .500 hockey for a dozen games or so. When we are getting wins, they're closer than they were earlier in the year. Hopefully we can do something to buck the trend and get back to playing as well as we were in October.
Predators double-up on the Isles 4-2. Its looking like some balanced scoring for the Preds as Eric Perrin scores a pair, with St. Louis and Ohlund getting the other two.
Patrick Lalime continues to fill-in as the competent back-up and might steal away the starting role if he continues this play!
Thrashers continue to be on a roll beating the Coyotes 4-3. Backup Dan Ellis got the start to give Khabby a rest. Newcomers Naslund and McDonald were on fire each picking up 3 pts.
After being in last place in the conference a few weeks back, the Thrashers made a pair of trades to shake things up (Naslund, McDonald, Visnovsky were brought in) and the team has responded with 3 straight wins (6-2-0 in the last 8). The Thrashers now are only 1 pt out of a playoff spot.
I make a nice little trade to get Bryce Salvador, then in the first game with an NHL caliber defense, Kent Huskins gets injured and is out for a month. Then tonight Steve Sullivan gets hurt and is gone for 3 weeks.
Hossa picks up 1st star in a losing cause as his goal and 3 assists were not enough to stop the Bruins. 2nd line got pummeled tonight, scored 2 goals between them but were still a -3 so apparently 5 of the Bruins 6 goals were scored while they were on the ice.
Aubin got the start to give Thomas his required play one game rest one game time off, but couldn't keep the Bruins under 5 goals so Timmy remains a 98% going into tomorrow's game....not good.
Wow Ovechkin with 4 goals in 7 minutes of icetime before being ejected. Luckily we held on for a 7-6 win. Hopefully Spezza and AO can build off their 7 points in one period next game.
Playing Toivonen I wasn't exactly confident going into this game. Cammy continues to play well and we are getting some secondary scoring but otherwise we are struggling all around.
Jeff Schultz is now injured too, looks like I'll be bringing up another rookie AHL guy.
