I can't believe I slept in and forgot to gamble! I'll have to head out in the first intermission and bet on the rest.

So have they played the new HNIC theme yet? I thought I heard something but I couldn't really tell. So far it's been the standard CBC Sports fare.

Crawford sounds terrible, his voice isn't made for announcing.

Zherdev has the tools to be a top 10 scorer in this league.

And the brain and work ethic to be a 4th liner!

It is still very early but the TB defense looks terrible.

They may have 700 NHL calibre forwards but it is going to be a long season in TB with that defense that they have.

So does a guy like Huselius, but it won't happen. There are plenty of guys with a ton of skill, but that's only one piece of the puzzle. I wouldn't say Iginla is a top 10 player in terms of natural skill (although he is very talented), but he's easily a top 10 player despite that, and arguably could be called the top player in the game.

Does anyone else think that CBC's contest is giving away the worst prize in the history of contests?

I mean, you get to spend a weekend in Edmonton with Don Cherry.

That sounds like the seventh circle of hell to me. Why the hell would I want to win that? I'd rather win electroshock therapy for my balls.

Another musing, I think TSN really made some of the best deals in the off-season.

They got the hockey song and traded away Mike Milbury, and got a second channel.

Nice work.

Yeah no more of this crappy meaningless pre-season games. But I wouldn't make judgement on the first 10 games though.

TSN getting the hockey song was pointless. It will gain 0 viewers and will sound stupid when they use it. Lets be honest, it's a crappy song. The only reason it has significance is because it was used on HNIC for so long, it's tradition. It has ZERO significance to TSN, and doesn't fit with their broadcasts. It's a downgrade from what they would be playing otherwise.

But I agree with you 100% on Milbury and the second channel.
