Dean McAmmond could go on waivers? Martin Gelinas still unsigned, could he retire?
Some recent news on a couple of our old friends...
Quote:
OTTAWA CITIZEN: Ken Warren yesterday reported forward Dean McAmmond's status with the Senators is uncertain, observing it was a year ago when he was sidelined with a concussion after being blindsided in a pre-season game by Philadelphia's Steve Downie. Warren reports it's possible the Senators could place McAmmond on waivers to see if there's any interest in him.
SPECTOR'S NOTE: McAmmond sadly hasn't been the same player since that hit and with some younger Senators challenging for a spot on the club it's possible he could be waived or traded.

CALGARY SUN: Wes Gilbertson reports UFA forward Martin Gelinas is still unsigned and hoping to land with an NHL team.
SPECTOR'S NOTE: After 19 seasons it appears that Gelinas might be facing the end of his NHL career.

IMO, Gelinas would be a fantastic fit for a team like Pittsburgh.
With Roberts heading to the sunshine state a leadership void has been left in that dressing room.
The cagey vet would be effective as a 3rd/4th liner on that team.

Some team will pick up up Gelinas before December. Sooner or later, there will be a team with enough injuries that he will get a call.
I'd take him back if we weren't already bursting at the seams with players.
Would rather have him here than Primeau, that's for sure. Isn't Gelinas a fitness freak? Would have been a nice touch for him to round out his career here playing some bottom-feeder minutes on the 4th line ala Dave Lowry.
