No, I am developing real estate around the course. Sorry for the bonehead post. I meant my home course where I live....

He does seem to be a giant, hopefully he can somehow get some quickness or something soon.

From what I can tell Chucko's problems have been with his legs and with his brain, but good to know his upper body is in good shape.

His skating needs ALOT of work. If he ever makes it.....it'll be a few years away.

My prediction: Sutter rolled the dice and loses on this first round selection.
The only season he has been a force was 2003-2004 in the BCHL.
Other than that, his scoring statistics have been poor. And I am putting stock in his scoring stats, because I assume that's what he was drafted to be, an offensive player.
If he was going to be a checking player, boy that skating ability really needed to be looked at.
IMO, worst first round pick since Rico Fata.

At least we got Boyd and Prust out of that draft.

Had Sutter not have moved down we could have gotten Zajac but probably one of the above would not be a Flame.

I think I could take that trade off. Tough to say though.

he's gonna get good. I've got him on my second line on NHL 08 and he is racking up the goals! I hope he makes it this year

Actually his skating is fine now. Not a speedster but good enough for the NHL.
Which isn't to say he doesn't have other weaknesses.

In junior he was also known as a bit of a tough nut, so that something may be a rediscovery of his pugilistic abilities. It's helped Nystrom get here when everybody was beginning to wonder, if he'd make it.

He must have made giant strides(no pun intended) since 2 yrs ago

He's made steady improvement. Skating will always be something fans criticize him for because it will never be a great part of his game, and because fans tend to not let something they hear on draft day go.
He's average at best, but it's not something that should hold him back from an NHL career.

The thing with Chucko is that he has always been seen as a project prospect, and a bit on the "safe" side in terms of a pick. Usually that means someone with limited upside, but a consistent all around game where at least one aspect will be able to be utilized. I think if we keep him as a crash and bang winger who spends time occasionally on the PK, he should be a decent enough player. Really with a player like him, if he is a starter on the lower lines in the NHL, it should be seen a success at this point.

Really? I've got a few I'd rank higher than him. He still has a shot, many before him are proven busts.

Chucko is going to have a solid season this year in the QC, he's going to be playing with more talent, I would not be surprised if he almost doubles his production. He still has a long way to go before he has the hockey sense to stick in the NHL though.

Oh, truer words have not been spoken. The post you're replying to proves that. Guy hasn't seen him in two years (judging by his posts) but yet says matter of fact skating is an issue.

Chucko is not going to kill anyone with his speed, but he can be an effective NHL player if he gets it together. At times he has dominated at the AHL level, and times stunk up the joint. I think this is a big year for Chucko, and I will be watching closely. If Chucko can put up 20 goals, and 50 points, he is well on his way IMO.

to me this is good news.

If he's been hitting the gym to build his upper body strength you know darn well he's been working on the rest of his game, most likely to the tune of a game plan the organization gave him.

Think back to Medvedev and what his off season game plan involved. At least Chucko is taking it serious and making an effort.

Great news in my opinion.

Skating isn't just a leg issue. And if he's been in the gym, I doubt he has just been sitting down lifting free weights.
