I swear I saw a thread on this here a while back, but I can't find it. There's a book I want on amazon.com that's half the price listed on amazon.ca. So after shipping, i'm still saving $10 bucks. But that's only if I don't have to pay import fees. I'm sure someone here can easily answer this, so thanks in advance.

No you don't. I heard they ship from Ontario and many times the price is way cheaper even with the exchange rate (whatever that is nowadays I'm not even sure).
You cannot however qualify for free shipping when you spend the required amount.
That's great. Thanks a lot. Man, I wish amazon.ca would lower their prices so that I could do free shipping instead.

amazon.com is way better in most cases I find. There are items they won't ship (video games for example), but for movies and books it's a steal even after shipping.

I haven't ordered from Amazon.com in quite a while(I usually use chapters.ca) but when I did I thought they shipped from the US and I got charged GST. The ripoff with GST on mailorder items from the States is the government charges $5 to collect it at the border. So if you buy a $20 book you will be charged $1 GST and then $5 to for them to collect it.
You won't get charged anything extra. They ship your order from their warehouse in the States to their warehouse in Ontario and from there to you so all the labels show that you are getting your order ship to you from within Canada (via Canada Post).
Like someone pointed out, you will not be able to use the free super saver shipping and you will not be able to track your order.

That used to be how it worked, but now you don't pay (that fee you pay for the government to collect their GST used to drive me nuts). As others have mentioned, they get shipped from an Ontario warehouse now.
