Every mock draft I have seen shows the 49ers taking DeSean Jackson out of CAL in the first round. I don't follow enough to comment, but I guess the 49ers want to give Alex Smith better weapons so they have a chance to finally decide if he can ever evolve into the player he showed.
Personally, I think the Niners need more help on the D-Line, but there are a number of holes to fill. If Joe Staley builds on his rookie year then amybe the O-line can hold up.

Alright I'll take a stab at a Top 10 mock draft just for gigs, I'm definitely far from an expert though.
1. Miami- Jake Long, T, Michigan - just to make sure I got at least one right .
2. St. Louis- Glenn Dorsey, DT, LSU - best player in the draft IMO. He's the kind of player that makes others around him better.
3. Atlanta- Matt Ryan, QB, BC - tough call here b/t him and Long. A little high to select Ryan here, but I think with Dorsey off the board they go QB, and help people forget about ol #7.
4. Oakland- Darren McFadden, RB, Arkansas - I had a tough call here b/t him and Chris Long, son of former Raider great Howie Long. But I think Skeletor would love to get his hands on a playmaker like McFadden.
5. Kansas City- Chris Long, DE, Virginia - They want to rebuild that once-great OL, but with Long surprisingly falling into their laps, it's a no-brainer.
6. NY Jets- Vernon Gholston, DE, Ohio St - Could be Ellis here too, especially with trading away Dewayne Robertson this week. I'll admit, this one's a complete stab in the dark. From what I hear they really want Chris Long or McFadden. With both off the board, I just picked BPA here, and Gholston is a freak.
7- New England- Keith Rivers, OLB, USC - really tough call here between Rivers and McKelvin, and G Branden Albert too. Despite losing both Asante Samuel and Randall Gay in FA, I just can't see the Pats passing on Rivers here, to inject some youth into a very aging LB corps. He also has the right attitude to fit in with the organization, he's definitely a "Pats player". Although I wouldn't be surprised if it were McKelvin here.
8- Baltimore- Leodis McKelvin, CB, Troy - with Matt Ryan off the board, word is the Ravens may trade down here(possibly with the Saints so they can grab Ellis). But I'm not predicting trades in this Mock, and McKelvin would make that secondary look even more fierce. Plus he's a dynamic KR too, which is another area the Ravens could use an upgrade.
9- Cincinnati- Sedrick Ellis, DT, USC - the Bengals need to plug holes on the D in a big way, and Ellis makes too much sense to pass on him here. Great attitude as well, which is something the Bengals badly need right now. I've heard that in a different year, Ellis may have gone first over-all.
10- New Orleans - Mike Jenkins, CB, South Florida - kind of a sad state of affairs with the way my Mock turned out for the Saints, whose top 3 choices all got snatched up in the last three straight picks. I still think the Saints will try to trade up a couple spots to grab Ellis(or possibly Rivers or McKelvin), but in this no-trade mock, the Saints select who many feel is the best CB in the draft. Jenkins is physical, and may be the best fit for the Saints out of the '08 CB class. Could also be Rodgers-Cromartie here, but I hope the Saints don't buy into the hype, he's way too unpolished, and has a reputation for not playing with enough intensity. Word is he also has a problem listening to coaches.
...anyways, that's her. By no means is it perfect, but I spent the better part of an hour on it and am happy with it. Feel free to discuss...
1 - Miami - Chris Long, OT - Michigan
Hes already signed so theres no question about this one
2 - St. Louis - Chris Long - DE - Virginia
St. Louis would be stupid to pass on this guy, hes what the Rams need. possible second pick: Vernon Gholston
3 - Atlanta - Vernon Gholston - DE - Ohio State
Atlanta needs a TON of help of defence, well now that I think about it they need a ton of help everywhere. possible second pick: Leodis McKelvin
4 - Oakland - Glen Dorsey - DT - LSU With Sapp gone, no question about it he will be missed and this is a big hole the Raiders need to fill. They addressed most of their needs on defence through free agency. possible second pick: Darren McFadden
5 - Kansas City - Matt Ryan - QB - Boston College
They need a better QB or a "future star" possible second pick: Sedrick Ellis
6 - New York Jets - Darren McFadden - RB - Arkansas
Jets REALLY want McFadden. possible second pick: Leodis McKelvin
7 - New England - Leodis McKelvin - CB - Troy
They need to replace Samuel. possible second pick: Sedrick Ellis
8 - Baltimore - Keith Rivers - LB - USC
Ray Lewis isnt exactly young possible second pick: Matt Ryan if he drops
9 - Cincinnati - Derrick Harvey - DE - Florida
This guy was really good, and Bengals need ANY help they can get on defence possible second pick: Sedrick Ellis
10 - New Oreleans - Sedrick Ellis - DT - USC
Hes good and if he drops this far Saints will pick the best choice possible. possible second pick: Dominique Cromartie
Possible trades:
-I think cowboys are gonna trade up as far as possible and grab McFadden, They have 2 first round picks and anyone will trade 2 first rounders for 1 high pick.
- I think Atlanta will trade the 3rd overall pick, they are loaded with picks and they want more. They need all the help they can get so the more picks they have the better chance they can draft a future superstar.
-Miami will probably trade Jason Taylor and try and get a 1st round pick out of it. Personally I dont think they can get a 1st rounder but you never know.
It's my day off baby! Got to bum around the house all day and just got home from a free meal at The Keg, after some hoser up here at the start of the year bet me a steak dinner that the Oilers would have a better year than the Flames. I cashed that bad boy in tonight. It's been a great day!
2.Rams- Chris Long DE- allows them to move Carriker inside full time.
3.Dirty Birds-Matt Ryan QB- Lots of Dorsey talk but Ryan is their guy.
4.Raiders- Darren McFadden RB-Big Al wants to watch a stud RB before he checks out.
5.Chiefs- Glen Dorsey DT***trade alert*** Saints send their first and third rounders to the Chefs to move up and get Glen Dorsey. Saints had to move up when Dorsey was still on the board, and the Chiefs add to their stable of picks.
6. Jets- Vernon Gholston DE- Great guy to play on the outside of a 3-4 defence.
7. Patriots- Sedrick Ellis DT- Patriots take the best player available, and he's a beast.
8. Baltimore- Leodis McKelvin CB- Time to address the aging secondary though they were hoping Ryan would fall.
9. Bungles- Keith Rivers LB- They wanted one of the big DT's but the Pats and Saints gut punch them.
10. Chefs- Brandon Albert OT/G -Clady was considered but Albert is mountain of guy and has more upside.
5.Chiefs- Glen Dorsey DT***trade alert*** Saints send their first and third rounders to the Chefs to move up and get Glen Dorsey. Saints had to move up when Dorsey was still on the board, and the Chiefs add to their stable of picks.
Now that I could live with. Moving up to 5 is alot more reasonable than moving up to #2.

I don't care which tackle we get, but I think the Falcons will get a new QB to get rid of the Vick stink, which will allow Dorsey to fall a little. The Chiefs do not want to pay 5th overall money and they can add depth, I will be shocked if they don't move that pick to someone.
CLE - no 1st round pick- WTF? What did they get from DAL?

I'd be quite content if the scenario that Saint Troy suggests was to transpire for the Chiefs. The offensive line is still a major problem for the team, and it needs too much help in a lot of areas. From what I gather there is not that much difference between the players at this point in the draft where moving down a few spots to get another crack in the top 80 wouldn't be worth considering. Even at position 10 there is enough viable options for the Chiefs to fill the needs that they have.

Chris Long goes #2 to the St.Louis Rams.
I think his name may have been a factor. If you have to pay that type of money to a player who's never played, I think you want to try and figure out if the player will have the character to earn that money. I would think the son of Howie Long will be a guy who is a pretty safe pick.
Matt Ryan does go #3 to Atlanta.
McFadden 4th to the Raiders.
Chiefs surprise a lot of people and take Glenn Dorsy #5.

According to Adam Schefter of the NFL network the Chiefs passed on an offer of the Saints first, second, and first next year for the fifth. Thank goodness the chiefs passed, as the Saints ended up with Ellis, but the Chiefs brass are idiots if they passed on that trade.
Saints only had to move their third rounder to move up and get Ellis, and they also got back a fifth. Shockey trade may still be on for the second rounder.
