Default Juice scores

...at horse racing Juice won $1 million dollar yesterday at something called V75 (Swedish horse racing).
Swedish Link http://www.aftonbladet.se/trav365/article2293970.ab
He says in the interview that he and his family were thrilled but for him it's more about prestige rather then the money. He continues to say that he's just about to go to practice where he'll celebrate with Keenan.

Let's hope he can pull off another big win tonight

At his current production, he should be paying the Flames.

That's not a bad payday.

So what is the first Calgary media outlet that is going to pick up on this story based on this thread by our Swede, PixelRevolt (which is great album BTW, I was listening to it today)?

Incredible. At least he's doing something useful in the corner or when he's sitting on the bench.

Whatever, lots of material here that could rip the guy 6 ways from Sunday, for at worst bad focus, to at best, bad optics, to be in the middle of a playoff series and being all caught up in some betting system which paid off for him at the track a continent away.

He's got tonight, and Tuesday, for a start, to prove that he's an unselfish player that can suck it up for his teammates and prove that even though the coach hates him and he's likely not back, he's got some pride as a man not to just up and give up in himself and his team like he's on the verge of confirming. Second leading scorer or not, he's got to show somehow like he cares for someone and something other then himself and his kronors.

In his own words, its about the prestige, not the money. Surpised with all this calculations, he hasn't figured that with a good Stanley Cup playoffs in a contract year, he'll get both the prestige, and the money (somewhere). He goes onto tank it, he may well stay in Sweden when he picks up his winnings.

Being Swedish, doesn't that mean he has to pay 75% of this to the government or something? In addition to his hockey salary? I think that's what Abba had to do.

What an overblown and ridiculous post. I'm not sure how he's been selfish recently, or ever really. And before you answer by saying he's not gritty or blah blah blah, remember that he's always been that way, always. Sutter knew what he was getting, Keenan knew what he was stepping into when coming on board.
I think he's turned up the hitting and taking hits since being here and his back checking is surly not much worse than others on our team throughout the year. But how much can we really expect a player to change his spots from something he isn't.
But I'm sure the kind of sentiment in your post and many other posters on this board is an out to lunch expectation that he should have become a Chris Clark Sutteresque player by now and it's laughable.
Especially in light of others on the team who get a free ride and are perhaps a different species of player by maybe a 2-5%!
At worst Huselius is a non factor that's paid as such and is about to leave the team anyway. Not sure how he's attracting more scorn than a certain higher lined LW'er who has done as much in the contribution department and is paid double and then some of Juice.
Oh sorry, I guess he won something and was asked about it. Yeah what scum bag.

As of right now, that's more than his salary will be worth next season.

oh please, as much as people here hate Huselius it would be stupid to say he isn't worth his current cap hit. Sure, he hasn't been great in the playoffs, but the second leading scorer for this team in the regular season will get more than 1 million next year.

I did a few calculations last night and came up with an interesting statistic, points per million dollars paid (PPMDP). I think it's an interesting statistic because quite a few CPer's seem to believe that Juice isn't pulling his weight and isn't worth the money we pay him and this stat looks at that. Let's see how he stacks up compared to some other Flames, we'll start of with a guy that everybody believes is worth is salary. Mr. Iginla has a PPMDP of 14, this will be the benchmark. Here's how some of the others fair:

Owen Nolan 18.3
Craig Conroy 11.9
Daymond Langkow 26.6
Matthew Lombardi 23.5
Alex Tanguay 10.8
Kristian Huselius 47.1

Some might call the usefulness of this statistic into question seeing as how Langkow and Lombardi's PPMDP is quite a bit higher than Iggy's yet Iggy has been the best Flame out there. However, what you cannot question is that amongst this data set their is a striking anomaly; Juice's 47.1 PPMDP. Even if one was to increase the validity of this statistic by including other factors that contribute to player's worth, Juice's high level of production per pay would likely ensure that his worth wouldn't plummet below the new average. To the contrary, it would likely hover around the average/median. For all those who think the Flames are underachieving and see Juice as a major underachiever and, as such, are giving him the brute of the Flame, Juice is doing what he's being paid to do. If you want to blame people you at least need to share that blame with other players in the Flame's dressing room.

Furthermore, Juice may not be playing this Western Canadian style hockey that some of you fancy and he may not be a model for Muscular Christianity but according to a preliminary look at the stats, some of the flames that do fit this mold are the ones you need to be chasing with pitchforks.

Funny, he kinda looks like this prototypical tough guy.

(and yes, I did try to find the most Scott Thomsony picture.)
